Aella marveled at the beauty of the oil rig in the middle of the ocean with Archer while the rest figured out how to convince Luna to take the Flame. Jasper quickly retired from the conversation to listen to some story.

"I like it here," Archer admitted. He was sitting on her shoulders and she gripped his ankles tight, making sure he wouldn't fall

"Do you, now?" Aella asked.

"Yeah. It's nice here and no one's trying to kill us today."

She bit her lip, asking, "How are you holding up?"

"What are you talking about?"

"Don't play with me, handsome. How are you holding up? Answer honestly."

He sighed, his shoulders drooping. "I'm sad."

She immediately brought him off her shoulders to set him down on the ground. She kneeled to meet his height and looked right into his eyes, asking, "Why?"

"Sinclair," he admitted. "He was my friend."

She held the back of his head and told him, "You miss him?"

"Yeah. He didn't deserve that."

"He saved you."

"But he died for it."

"He gave you a second chance, Archer," Aella said. "He gave you a chance to live and to love. He was your friend and friends protect each other. He wanted to protect you and he did. I wish it didn't turn out that way either, but we can't change what happened now."

"What do I do with a second chance?"

"You live life to the fullest. You admire every tree, bush, river, rock... You let everyone know you love them. You do the things that scare you. You get to thank Sinclair every single day that your heart can beat and you can breathe oxygen."

"Can I be sad?"

"Of course, baby. You can't be you without emotions. If you need to cry, you can cry. If anyone dares to make fun of you for it, they get to take it up with me."

He sniffled and chuckled, wrapping his little arms around the woman he cared for most. "Thank you."

She rubbed his back and murmured, "It's no problem. I love you so much, baby."

"I love you too."

She kissed his cheek and asked, "What do you want to do while you're here?"

"I wanna talk to those other kids. It's been a while since I saw a kid my age."

"Go make some friends, buddy," she encouraged, letting him do as he pleased, then meeting up with Clarke and Bellamy who were ready to talk to Luna.

"The boats return at nightfall," Luna explained. "Then you leave forever."

"Luna, let us explain," Clarke begged.

"I said no."

"No," Bellamy said. "You need to hear this. There is something out there that is going to destroy us all."

"Whatever it is, it can't reach us here."

"You don't know that," Aella added just as Luna began to turn away.

Luna did end up leaving the three behind, causing them to groan in annoyance.

Bellamy whispered to Clarke and let her join Octavia and Luna, leaving him and Aella alone.
