Since we already know what happens in the bunker, this will be an Archer chapter ooooooo

Also, yeah it takes forever to update when you have, like, ten unpublished stories you need to get a few chapters in before publishing and seven published stories you need to update even though you're a student with LOTS OF WORK.

Also 100k views??

I don't deserve you guys

Short filler sorry

Survival was a hard thing. It took an army to keep one person alive at times. Survivors normally had to climb over the bones of those they loved to watch the sun peak over the horizon of a new day full of new possibilities for those to see it.

Archer never figured he'd have to metaphorically climb over the bones of the woman he called his mother surrounded by her friends to live another day.

For him, the first few days were the hardest.

He was so young and used to not understand the prospect of death, but when he was forced to go into space without his mom, he finally understood.

The full effect of grief hit him for the first time in his short life. Of course, he was not alone in this experience but only he could grieve for a mother while the others around them grieved a friend or lover.

When they made it onto the ring of the Ark, everything was chaotic.

Murphy, without his best friend to corral him at least a little, was a full-blown trainwreck.

Bellamy did what he could to hide his grief, but everyone knew he was suffering, especially since she promised him she'd always be there. She unintentionally broke her first and last promise.

Raven grieved for two friends.

Echo grieved for none.

Monty and Harper often looked at the scars on their bodies and thought of the times she saved them, thus accumulating similar scars. They grieved but intended to live on for her which is exactly what she wanted.

Emori was saddened by the loss of someone who understood her when others didn't, even finding a way to justify all her wrongs.

Everyone grieved.

If their ragtag group fo survivors were a team, they lost some of their strongest players. Not one, but two. Everyone was sad, but one of them was lost. Archer.

When they were assigned living quarters, Archer stayed in Aella's old quarters and isolated himself for weeks.

He got a periodical check-up and joined the team for dinner, but other than that, he wasted away in the room he called his own and stared out the window into space and onto the scorched Earth where he thought his mother's corpse lied.

He closed his eyes and thought of her often. Every waking thought was of her and every night she danced in his dreams. He would awake with a smile only to find she wasn't there.

It took him six months wasting away to realize this isn't what she wanted. The only way he allowed himself to see that was through his dreams.

It was Day 179 when he dreamt of her. It was so surreal he couldn't believe she wasn't there.

She approached him with an earnest smile and open heart.

He expected her to look angelic with a lovely glow surrounding her, but she looked the same as ever.

She sat down beside him and played with his hair. Although he could not actually feel it, the thought of it was comforting to some extent.

Then she kissed his marred cheek, taking the mask he often had over his face and tossing it aside.
