Lago Del Desierto, Argentina
February 6, 1985
-☆-
The Lake of the Desert. The translation for the Lago del Desertio. Lakes and deserts have to complete different meanings. Lakes are full of life and diverse. One can usually picture children playing in the water and fishing and other family-friendly activities. Deserts are barren and dry, infested with snakes and other creatures that are fighting for survival. Using associated with being stranded.
Interestingly, that name had nothing to do with the actual location. The Lago del Desertio was just another forest flourishing with greenery and filled with animals.
This gorgeous piece of nature just so happened to be where a baby by the name of Astra was stranded. Her origin - unknown.
"Ma'am, are you sure the 0-8-4 is here?" A male agent asked the head of the team, Agent Cole. His doubts weren't misplaced, though. The team had been searching for the unknown object for almost five hours now.
"The locals said they saw something fall out of the sky." Agent Cole, A level 7 S.H.I.E.L.D agent, clarified, while she walked through the forest and looked around through the green bushes and trees.
"The readings are incredible." Doctor Haley Sherals stared at her tablet with wide eyes. "It seems that the oxygen in the air has declined by 0.16 percent, explaining why the air feels so thin."
"Why is the air like that?" The first agent asked with his eyebrows furrowed. His jagged breaths heard visibly as he reached for his canteen.
"The 0-8-4 probably has something to do with it." Agent Cole answered, clearly unamused, as she continues to lead the small portion of the team. Just before she could get too far, an agent ran over.
"Hey, boss." He called grabbing their attention as the small groups head turned to him. "We found it." They wasted no time to follow the agent. Reaching a small capsule embedded in the ground. It was silver with markings on it that were constantly changing colors. The group stared at it with awe until Agent Cole slowly approached it.
"What is it?" Dr. Sherals asked with her eyebrows knit together and keeping her distance.
"Isn't that why you're here, Dr. Sherals?" Agent Cole asked the obvious and swayed down to observe it better. Carefully she brushed her fingertips on the silver capsule, triggering something in the capsule as it opened slowly as any machine would.
The team's jaws dropped as they saw what was inside. A sleeping baby. Female, and by the looks of it, she was newborn, too. Her facial skin had tan markings on it and the small amounts of hair on her head were white.
"Oh my God." A male agent Said under his breath. The fact that there was a child found in a capsule in the middle of a forest, was unbelievable. And S.H.I.E.L.D. has seen many unbelievable things.
"What do we do?" Dr. Sherals asked the head of the team, who stayed quiet as she looked at the child. Curiosity gleamed in her eyes as she looked a the baby, thinking how she got here, where she came from.
"That is all up to the director." Agent Cole finally said after a few moments. "For now, get the car ready we're heading to base."
