The Planet Eve

July 15, 2015

--

Deserted was the word to describe the planet. The alabaster columns and buildings may have once been beautiful, but now destroyed, broken. The trees were dead and there was no sign of life. "What is this place?" She wondered out loud. Her grey eyes filled with sadness as she looked around.

"This planet was called Eve." Thanos answered her, leaning her further into the broken city. "Located in the center of the universe." She looked confused as he lead her inside the only standing building left. A beautiful marbled temple, with a symbol onto of the doorway. A circle with a 6 stones placed inside. "You are more spectacular than you know." Her father told her motioning her to go inside. "You go in alone and enter the pool."

"God, this is like some mythology shit." She mumbled to herself as she walked in. The clear blue water reflecting the yellow sun's light into the white room. "Okay." She dragged the word while she spoke to herself. "So, I just swim in it or?"

Slowly she entered the pool. The warm was inviting and she didn't remember anything. Just feeling an urge to go into the pool deeper like a machine programed to do one thing. The brunette allowed herself to float on her back as her hair involuntary turned white and her tan markings melted onto her skin. Feeling completely at peace.

Until her eyes jolted open. Everything was back to normal in her brain, only not really. She found herself standing in a completely white room that didn't seem to have an end. Her clothes were the same, an orange leather shirt with black pants and boots. The floor below her wasn't a floor, but rather water.

"Hello, Astra." A female voice surprised her from behind. Astra turned around to look at her. A tall elegant woman with platinum blonde hair and her skin was fair and smooth. She was clothed in a long white dress that dragged slightly in the water with a hood draped over her hair. The smile on her face was motherly and bright. "I haven't seen an Cosmicite in over 500 years."

"Where am I?" Astra asked, her eye glossing over the plain setting.

"Your body is still on Eve, but this is all happening in your mind." The elegant woman answered her voice was soothing and hopeful. "My name is Alphine." She introduced herself as she approached the young female "You come to know more of your past." The fact that the young-looking female knew that made Astra even more curious than she was before. "I am all-knowing. Yet, I spent an eternity in this dimension. Giving answers and warnings to those who enter the pool." She answered the girls unasked question.

"So," Astra started to speak cautiously but hopefully. "You can tell me my past?"

Alphine gave her a smile as the white setting changed into a beautiful city with white buildings and the grass was a healthy shade of green. The animals were peculiar, a golden panther was strolling the city and there was a hippogriff that flew above her head and landed on the marble road. Then that were colored spaceships landing and people in elegant and diverse clothing strolling the streets.

Alphine watched the wonder in Astra's eyes and smiled to herself. To Alphine, Astra was an unfortunate child that has so much to learn. She began walking down the street, the citizens of the wondrous place were like ghosts, passing through Astra as she followed Alphine. "This used to be Eve, the center of the universe." She began to explain to Astra. "The Infinity Stones that you see in your visions, created this planet. And your ancestors were the Cosmic Entities. They created the stones and began this planet. Their children occupied it and guarded the Stones until it was decided to allow them into the virgin universe."

Astra looked at Alphine with confusion, worry, wonderment as the prophet continued. "Your people were the most powerful in all the universe. Some of the most powerful Cosmites has the ability to wipe out planets, if needed. They were called the guardians of the universe. Many people called them angels. If you saw one in your lifetime you would have been blessed. Some even though of you as myths." She told her while in Astra's head she was internally screaming. Thanos told her that she was more spectacular than she believed, but this is a whole new level.

The two entered a clearing where a group of warriors were training, they sliced the air in sync and let out warrior cries, led by a female with beautiful, shining white and hair grey eyes. "Your mother was the leading warrior. The most trusted and headstrong person on the planet." Alphine motioned to the female warrior, wearing a royal blue cape with gold armor. Alphine's face turned hard and cold and spoke up again as the setting turned to fire and ruin, those that were living were dead on the floor. Weapons scattered as it looked that they fought brutally. "When Thanos arrived with his cataclysmic idea he wanted to ally this your people. When they refused, your mother, Viela, betrayed her planet. Causing their extinction."

Astra's expression turned from one of wonder to one of confusion. "Why would she do that?"

Alphine turned to look at the young female in the eye. Her cold and disappointed stare made Astra feel at fault. "She believed in Thanos's cause. Not long after joining him they fell in love and destroyed Eve together, later many more innocent planets." Her face then turned to regret as she stared back at the scene. "The future is never set in stone. Scenes may over lap multiple times, which gives your visions, but it is all up to every person's decisions. Your mothers decision was unpredictable, I never saw it. Now I see it at every passing moment."

"I'm sorry." Astra tried to comfort her, placing a hand on Alphine's shoulder. But, she realized something that didn't add up. "If Thanos knew that you were going to tell me my past. He must have known that you would tell me about the you know, 'destroying the planet thing.' So, why did he let me come?"

"So see where you stand. If you will continue his conquest like your mother, or stand against him." She answered her. Fear then replacing her calm tone of voice."You know there is a dark future." This prophet has been alive for as long as the planet they are on. But never has she felt fear so great. She stood right infant of Astra looking deeply in her eyes. "I can only give warnings, and your actions are of your own. But, listen carefully to what I have to say. The future needs to know that you will make the right decisions."

"So, no pressure." Astra was really tiring to take in everything that she just learned, now she found out that she is the tipping stone of the universe. And she thought that just learning she was alien was the most surprising news she would ever hear. "Alphine, I don't want to be the daughter of some crazy conquerer or some angelic savior. I came to learn about myself not to save the universe."

Alphine had pity in her eyes as she cupped Astra's left cheek. "Oh, child. I'm afraid that our destiny's are beyond any of us. You are meant for great things, Astra." The female didn't look convinced, most of all Astra was overwhelmed. "I have looked into the souls of many of your people, but never have I seen a soul so hurt, filled with love, commitment, strength, talet, skill." She listed the girls qualities. "Perhaps you don't believe it yet, but you are capable of amazing things."

Astra looked at the ground, soaking everything in. Never in a million years has she ever thought that she may be a powerful being. She felt like a pawn in life's cruel game. All Astra wanted was to go home and be in Steve's arms. To play Mario Kart with her brother and to watch The Bachelor with Natasha and Wanda. That life ended the moment I decided they weren't enough. I should have just stayed and let that incomplete feeling go. She scolded herself, of course she blamed herself. They were enough.

"What do I have to do?" There is was that turning point. Her heroic line. The line where she claimed what she was. Where she claimed her fate.
