"Hey Steve." Astra started to speak over all the noise, throwing her sword precisely so that it would go thought 6 bots, making a bot-kabab.
"Yeah?" He asked her to continue, throwing his shield and it coming back seconds later.
"Maybe you were right." She ducked under a bot and when she came up she stabbed it in his face.
"You may have to be more specific." He yelled over the noise. "I'm right a lot."
"Well," She started then she spun around, slicing threw two more bots. "Maybe I couldn't have distanced myself. Or any of that." Most of herself was focused on not dying, so she really wasn't saying all she wanted to. "And I really," She cut through another bots head before continuing. "shouldn't have hurt you. Especially like that." She tried to catch her breath while they had a break for a moment and took a few steps towards him. "Cause the truth is- move!"
Steve moved to the side while Astra threw a knife. The bot dropped dead and the soldier glanced at it before looking back at her. "You were saying?" He nodded for her to continue.
Astra mustered up all her courage and cupped his cheeks before leaning up to fill the gap between them. Steve was surprised at first but quickly gave in, wrapping his arms around her waist. It was a warm kiss. Very calm and just the right amount of everything. They almost forgot about the battle going on around them, until there was a crash and they pulled away.
"The truth is," The female started, looking into the soldiers blue eyes. "I think I'm in love with you."
"I know I'm in love with you." He said breathlessly with a quirky smile. "Damm it Ash, everything you do just makes me love you even more." From the way she would laugh to when she would be covered in motor oil.
She smiled timidly as her hand left his cheeks and fell to his curled up on his chest instead. "If only we had more time." Her eyes were knit together as she pulled away from him and walked backwards. "Either way, there's still an army of robots that had been testing me since day one." She turned back around to run to the fight. Steve stood in place for a moment longer to admire her, then ran beside her.
Natasha was struggling to take down a bot while the duo got closer. Then to the right of them was a family being trailed by another bot. "You get Nat, I'll get the family." Astra told Steve and he nodded in response.
The alien girl rushed to the family, creating a sword in her hand. She observed her surroundings and decided on using a car as leverage. So, she jumped on top of a car and gained speed on the bot, skipping from one car to another. Once she got close enough, she jumped off and plunged her sword into the bot. Sparks flew from the hole in it as the lights inside powered down.
"Thank you." The mother said gratefully to the girl before she quickly dragged her children away.
Astra turned back to meet with Natasha and Steve. "We gotta get these people somewhere safe." She told them. "Right now, they are scattered and afraid. They never planned to be onto of a floating city." Steve nodded in agreement.
"Get anyone you find there and get them to a safer location. Somewhere they can breath correctly" The captain ordered in the dusty air. They split up and brought anyone that needed help to the building. "The next wave's gonna hit any minute." Steve voiced in the coms and he got anxious like the rest of the team. "What have you got, Stark?"
"Nothing great." Tony responded, then suggesting that may be the only way. "Maybe a way to blow up the city. That'll keep it from impacting the surface, if you guys get clear." Astra and Nat shared a look, knowing what that meant.
"I asked for a solution not an escape plan." The soldier told him.
"Impact radius is getting bigger every second." Tony told them the reality. "We're gonna have to make a choice."
"Cap, these people are going now where." Natasha told the blonde as he approached the two females. "If Stark finds a way to blow this rock-"
"Not until everyone's safe." He interrupted her.
"Everyone up here versus everyone down there? There's no math there." She looked at him with a confused expression.
"I'm not leaving this rock with even one civilian on it." He made himself clear with his beliefs.
"She didn't say we should leave." Astra corrected him, Steve looked down at the female. His heart broke just thinking about her dying. But he also knew that she wouldn't leave the rock either. She shrugged before she took intertwined her hand with his and continuing to speak. "Sure, I've always wanted to go to space, but," She looked at the big blue sky with the clouds underneath them. "this is a good view."
"Glad you like the view, Stark." Fury's voice appeared in the coms and the three looked back at the sky. "It's about to get better." Astra's mouth hung open and relief flooded her once she realized she may not die after all. "Nice, right?" He continued to speak, enjoying the shock they all have. "Pulled her out of mothballs with a couple of old friends. She's dusty, but, she'll do." Astra smiled at the sight of the helicarrier, the good memories from S.H.I.E.L.D. emerged in her mind.
"Fury, you sone of a bitch." Steve spoke as he stared at the ship.
"You kiss your mother with that mouth?" Fury was quite shocked at America's golden boy cursing.
A couple doors opened in the helicarrier and evacuation pods lowered down. "This is S.H.I.E.L.D.?" Pietro asked them while he was impressed.
"This is what S.H.I.E.L.D. is suppose to be." Steve answered instead.
"This is not so bad." Pietro admitted.
"Let's load them up." The Captain ordered as he ran to get the people on them safely.
While Astra ran she looked up into the sky, seeing Rhodey in his War Machine suit. blasting the bots in the sky. "Yes!" He exclaimed once shooting down a couple of the pesky robots. "Now this is gonna be a good story."
"Yep, if you live to tell it." Tony flew up beside him, attempting to the fact that he was quite glad to see his friend. Astra smile even wider, finally feeling like a team as they all ushered civilians onto the pods.
