The crew stepped out of the Milano carefully, ensuring that there were no threats. At least, they would be doing that if it weren't pitch black. "I can barley see." Drax had to point out the obvious. Groot took notice, lifting his arm and glowing plants floated into the air. Everyone marveled at the magical right.
"And at last I see the light. And it's like the fog has lifted." Astra sung softly, at how the sight reminded her of the lantern scene in Tangled.
"When did you learn to do that?" Drax wondered.
"Pretty sure the answer is 'I am Groot.'" Quill answered, ruining the moment.
"It's romantic." Astra commented then turned to look at the tall tree. "Hey, can you do this at my wedding?"
"The flight deck is 300 meters this way." Gamora got back on task continuing to walk forward.
Everyone else followed making sure they step in the right place. "I want you all to know that I am grateful for your acceptance after my blunders." Drax announce quietly. "It is pleasing to one again have friends. You Quill, are my friend." He started, Peter replying with a simple 'thanks.' "This dumb tree in my friend. This bipolar magic girl, is my friend." Astra gave him a confused and offended look as he continued. "And this green whore, she, too-"
"Oh, you must stop!" Gamora shouted at him.
"I would have punched him." Astra muttered under her breath so only her sister would hear.
Right then there was a rumbling from the wall and Nebula fell down, landing on her two feat. "Gamora, Astra, look at what you have done." She blamed at the two looked shocked. "You have always been weak. You stupid, traitorous-" Before she could continue to speak, Drax blasted her meters away.
He slowly lowered the blaster, unfazed. "Nobody talks to my friends like that."
Gamora gave everyone shrot glances and got back on task. "Everyone head to the flight deck. I'll shut down the power to the security doors."
Quill, Groot and Drax began jogging to their own direction but Astra stayed behind for another moment. "You need help?" She asked Gamora.
"No, Astra." Gamora responded, looking back at her. "This is a fight between just me and Nebula."
"You can just call me Ash." The brunette told her, with an amused smile, Gamora sending one back to her. Giving the green girl a salute, she ran to catch up to Quill and the others.
Catching up wasn't to hard, they didn't run very fast. Once entering an area they had already been face to face with Ronan's followers. Korath the Pursuer smiled wickedly as he recognized the man in front of him. "Starlord."
"Finally." Quill cheered on the inside and Korath took the opportunity to lift him up and throw Quill to the ground.
In that moment Astra's hair turned white and her marking appeared and he created daggers in both hands. Fighting the soldiers swiftly with ease, but still needing to focus and be cunning like a fox. Their green blood sprayed out, onto the girls shirt and she looked down with disgust. "Aww man." She whined in a high pitch.
Korath had just kicked Drax down and looked over at him with a hard stare. "You will never make it to Ronan." He said confidently. Astra cut in, kicking him to the floor and he kicked stomach, taking he off guard. When she stood hack she flung her sword, which he dodged and punched her in the face. "You are a traitor." He mocked her.
"Can't be a traitor if I was never on you side in the first place, Cyborg." She cleverly back talked with a smirk and punched him in the chest with all her strength. His back hit the wall and he stared at her with fear as she flipped a long dagger in the air and kicked the butt of it as it landed in Korath's stomach, pinning him to the wall.
The still alive man whimpered lightly, not wanting to show weakness. Drax wanted to make sure he would be dead, grabbing on to the metal in Korath's head and crashing it. "Finger to the throat means death." Drax hissed out, then successfully ripping out the metal. "Metaphor." he nodded in accomplishment.
"Yeah, sorta." Quill responded. "Oh no." More soldiers cam running towards them and they prepared for another battle. Groot wasn't having it, starching out his arm and through multiple of them and lifting them up. He swung them to the side, to the left, the right, up down, multiple times. Astra stared in disarray and looked back at Drax and Quill. Once Groot was satisfied, his arm went back to normal size and looked back at them with a proud smile.
"Let's..." Astra started to speak slowly as they all stood there. "Get going."
*****
"Quill you better hurry." Rocket spoke while the other fought against the soldiers. Astra sliced off heads and stabbed, but more kept coming. "The cities been evacuated, but we're getting our asses kicked down here."
"Gamora hasn't opened the door." Quill responded. Yep, the big black door was still shut tight, leaving the group to fight till it is open.
Quill had already prepared the gun for when the door did open and Gamora shot through, meeting with the group to face Ronan. He looked back at them, standing almost completely still and Quill didn't give him a second to do anything, just taking his shot.
It caused a pretty good explosion, but everyone kept their eyes open through all the dust to make sure he was gone. "You did it!" Drax cheered, a little too soon. Once the dust began to clear, you could see the purple stone still glowing as Ronan's body rose.
Astra and Gamora shard the same 'oh no' look and looked back at the Kree. He lifted his staff and pointed it at the group, sending a blast their way and sending them back. Drax stood up quickly and sprinted towards Ronan, who grabbed Drax by the throat and lifting him off the ground. While he gasped for air Ronan thought it would be a good time to mock him. "I was mistaken. I do remember your family. Their screens were pitiful. I..." The blue man stopped at the sound of a ship zooming towards them.
Rocket crashed his ship right through the Dark Aster and straight at Ronan. There was now a giant hole in the black ship and it began to descend without control. Quill went to check on Rocket while Astra lifted Drax and carried him to the circle the others were at. All around them it rumbled at rock and other things fell as the place was destroyed. "We were suppose to make it." Astra whispered to herself as she felt hopeless.
Groot noticed the futile mood as they all awaited for the moment the ship would crash and they move on to their next life. The tree sped his wooden arms out as branches began to grow from him and create a protective sphere around them all. Astra looked up at him at saw what once used to be a criminal, and now a softy who valued the lives of others over himself. She looked grateful and gave and honorary nod in his direction.
Rocket had finally woken up, observing the branches and leaves growing. After a few more moments, the room in there was minimal. The leaves were cushioning them and the glowing plants floated around them for light. "No, Groot." Rocket begged, tears forming in his eyes. "You can't. You'll die. Why are you doing this? Why?"
A branch brushed off the raccoons tears as Groot gave him a sad and hopeful look. "We are Groot." He said slowly. And they had finally crashed into the evacuated city.
