The Milano

November 3, 2018

--

The notes to Rubberband Man strung loudly thought the Milano. Astra hummed along to it, just finishing her journal entry on how she and the Guardians had just took down a space monster that tried to take out the river people of the planet Marsent. "Sing it Drax!" Quill pointed, hoping the snoring man would sing along to the song. Astra shoved her journal into her old satchel before shrinking the black bag and clipping it to her belt, right next to her gold celestialite crest.

"Why are we doing this again?" Rocket yawned from his seat right behind the brunette.

"It's a distress signal, Rocket. Someone could be dying." Astra answered in an annoyed tone, that being the 8th time he asked that question.

"I get that, but why are we doing it?"

"Cause we're nice." Quill clearly stated. "And maybe who ever it is will give us a little cheddar cheese for our effort." He greedily rubbed his fingers with a mischievous smirk.

"Which isn't the point." Gamora pointed a finger at him.

"Which isn't the point." Quill repeated. "I mean, if he doesn't pony up..."

"We take his ship." Drax finished, finally waking up.

"Exactly."

"B-b-b-b-bingo!"

"Allright." The boys cheered.

Astra and Gamora shared the same annoyed look and shook their heads. "We are arriving." Mantis announced quietly.

"All right, Guardians. Don't forget this might be dangerous so lets put on out mean faces." Quill told them, Mantis taking it seriously and grimaced. The beeps from Groot's, who was now a teenager, was getting quite annoying for everyone. "Groot put that thing away, now. I don't wanna tell you again." The beeping continued as Groot ingrained him. "Groot."

"I am Groot." The edgy teen back-talked.

Everyone's eyes went wide and they groaned. "Language." Astra shouted back to him, giving him a threatening glare, which used to work to get him to listen to her.

"You got some acorns of you, kid." Quill commented in a parenting tone.

"Ever since you got a little sap, your a total d-hole." Rocket growled back at him. "Now, keep it up, and I'm gonna smash that thing into pieces."

The Milano finally broke though the jump, arriving at the desolated area. Broken parts of the ship and floating bodies everywhere, looking like there was a massacre.

The guardians all felt a little nauseous at the sight. "What happened?" Mantis soft voice spoke as she leaned to the edge of her seat.

"Oh my, God." Quill muttered, a look of disgust on his face.

They all continued to stare out at the horror. It was one of those things that you just couldn't look away from but felt like barfing at. "Looks like we're not getting paid." Rocket spoke, not feeling any sympathy whatsoever. Right as Astra was about to scold at him, one of the lifeless bodied hit the window, surprising the Guardians. "Wipers! Wipers! Get it off." Rocket shouted. A moment later, the body's eyes, or eye, opened, all gasping in repulsion.

They set the man on the table and Astra was able to get a good look at the semi-dead man. He was covered in dirt and grime, blood covered his face and hard armor. "Oh my, God." She whispered, recognizing him once passing all the different features while Rocket sniffed him.

"How the hell is this dude still alive?" Quill wondered while looking down at him.

"He's not a dude." Drax responded before Astra could, and she decided to hold off the information for a moment or two. "You're a dude. This... This is a man. A handsome, muscular man."

"I'm muscular." Quill got defensive.

"But, who are you kidding, Quill. You're one sandwich away from fat." Rocket insulted him normally.

"Yeah right." He scoffed.

"It's true, Quill. You have put on some weight." Drax agreed.

Quill's cocky smile faded, being replaced by a self-conscious one. "What?" Drax made motions of eating and then growing bigger. "Gamora, do you thing I'm..." He stopped talking once seeing Gamora's wandering eyes.

"He is anxious, angry." Mantis told them, her antenna's glowing white as she touched his forehead. "He feels tremendous loss and guilt."

"It's like a pirate had a bad with an angel." Drax drooled over him.

"Wow." Quill was still on the fat subject. "This is a real wake-up call for me. Okay. I'm gonna get a Bowflex. I'm gonna commit. I'm gonna get some dumbbells."

While he was talking, Gamora held up the man's left arm and ran her hand over his bicep. "It's like his muscles are made of Cotati metal fibers."

"Stop massaging his muscles." Peter spoke, feeling a bit low and Gamora dropped his arm. "Wake him up." He told Mantis.

She set her hand on his forehead tenderly and Astra made sure she wasn't too close to the table. "Wake." Mantis commanded softly.

Not a moment later, the man jumped up, the other Guardians not expecting the sudden movements. A few metal things clanked when they fell on the ground, but as far as anyone was concerned, nothing broke. The man grunted and breathed heavily as he got his thoughts together.

Slowly, he turned around, facing the battle-ready Guardians. Well, all expept for Astra, who had a smirk on her pink lips and leaned against the table. The man didn't even need to look at he others a the moment, if she was with them, he knew they could be trusted. He chuckled when setting his eye on her. Astra was the one who walked forward with a grin, engulfing him in a hug. "Hey, buddy."

"Lady Astra. It is too good to be true." Thor chuckled into her now shoulder-lenthened hair and she laughed.

"What happened? Where's you hair? Your eye? You're iconic hammer?" She bombarded him with questions once they pulled away.

His grin turned into a sad smile, making Astra sorrow her eyebrows in confusion. "A very long story. Did you find you father?" He asked back.

"Also a long story." She chuckled half-heartedly.

"Now," He started, his voice low and gruff as the grief caught up with him. "Who the hell are they." Thor pointed at the very confused Guardians.

"You know pirate-angel?" Drax asked just for himself in a whisper.

I'm not emotionally ready to write this part of the book. I know that sounds exaggerated, but watching the movie is hard enough. Anyways, hope you all enjoy and suffer to part 6.
