When the small group arrived at their destination, Hill opened the door. Steve stepped out first and tries to carry the bleeding brunette.
"It's my arm that's injured." She stopped him in a serious tone of voice. "I am perfectly capable of walking." She kept her hand over her wound as they walked into the facility.
"GSW," Hill called to an agent that ran over. "She's lost at least a pint."
"Maybe two. " Sam suggested.
"Let me take her." The agent offered.
"She'll want to see him first." Hill said instead, making the other three pretty confused.
Steve looked down at the brunette with a worried expression as he helped her keep her balance. She chose to ignore his stares, though, instead worrying about her wound. Hill lead them down the hallways for another two minutes, then slid open a curtain. The person laying on a hospital bed was supposedly dead. But, there was Fury. Alive.
"About damn time." He spoke first.
Astra was seated on a small chair while a doctor worked on stoping the blood. "Lacerated spinal column, cracked sternum, shattered collar bone, perforated liver, one hell of a headache." Fury listed.
"Don't forget your collapsed lung." The doctor added.
"Let's not forget that." Fury said. "Otherwise, I'm good."
All in all. Astra was shocked. Here's the man that lied to her, knew her secrets, used her abilities for his advantage, but still, she was glad to see him alive. The man who also kept his distance, helped when no one else could, and kept those secrets.
"They cut you open, your heart stopped." She pointed out.
"Tetrodotoxin D." Fury explained. "Slows the pulse to one beat a minute. Banner developed it through stress. Didn't work so great for him. We found a use for it."
"Why all the secrecy?" Steve wondered. "Why not just tell us?"
"Any attempts on the Director's life had to look successful." Hill explained.
"Can't kill ya if your already dead." Fury restated. "Besides, I wasn't sure who to trust." I can relate. The injured female thought. "Glad you decided to join in the fun, Stark."
"Yeah," She started saying sarcastically. "Cause who doesn't want to be caught in the middle of a global domination attempt."
"I admit, it was hard to keep track of you this time." He pointed out.
"Cause I didn't want to be tracked." She told him.
"If that were true then you wouldn't have been tracked." He told the truth. "When you were 8 you tried running away because you didn't want to get your vaccine. Found you two days later out of nothing but luck." To say she was a problem child was an understatement.
