(PoV: 3rd Person)

Sonic slept in Tails's guest bedroom. He was running some tests on him for Shadow. Down in what was left of Tails's living room, Shadow was pacing. He couldn't hear Sonic's voice because he could no longer speak. Amy was currently ignoring the fact that Sonic was interested Shadow, focusing on if Sonic was okay.

"Shadow, I'm sure Tails can figure it out," Blaze placed a hand on his shoulder.

"That won't help keep me from worrying," Shadow sighed.

Tails came down the stairs, with his computer.

"How's-Sonic?-Is-he-okay?" Amy started hestaricly asking questions. Questions Shadow wanted to ask, but kept quiet about, "What's-wrong-with-him?"

"What'd you find out?" Rouge asked, calmly translating Amy's questions.

"Well, there's nothing really wrong with him. Everything looks normal, I tested for everything. The only thing that looked strange were the amounts of hormones in his system," Tails explained showing everyone the chart, "boys usually have higher testosterone levels, but Sonic's are perfectly balanced with the estrogen levels, if not lower. You can check on him if you want to Shad-"

Shadow sped up the stairs before Tails even finished saying his name.

"Lapis?" Shadow held Sonic's hand, "how are you feeling?"

Sonic woke up to a warm feeling around his hands. He looked at Shadow and smiled.

"Any luck talking today?" Shadow asked, fixing some of Sonic's quills.

Sonic tried saying Shadow's name, not even a squeak came out. Shadow sighed, pressing their for heads together.

"We'll figure this out," Shadow gave him a peck on his forehead and he purred, "hey we've got sound from you."

"Hey Sonic, you feeling better?" Silver came up with a bowl of rice, "Hungry?" Sonic took the bowl and started eating, "I guess so."

"Sonic~" Amy ran up hugging Sonic, making he drop his bowl. Sonic swallowed the bite he had in his mouth, keeping his eyes on the bowl, "Did you miss me? Hey, my eyes are over here."

"I'll get you a fresh bowl," Silver said cleaning up the spilled rice.

"I can't believe you dropped his breakfast," Amy scolded.

"You made him drop it by jumping onto him," Silver started arguing.

Shadow ignore them and helped Sonic change into his favorite poncho, then helped him downstairs. The collars effects were wearing down. Sonic could walk, but with some help. His voice still hadn't come back, but at least Shadow knew he could purr.

"Do you want more rice or something different?" Shadow asked getting a plate. Sonic tried saying something, forgetting he had no voice, "right. 1 for rice, 2 for something different," Sonic raised one finger and Shadow got him more rice.

(PoV: Sonic)

It was around 3 pm when I started getting nervous. After I ate lunch I started looking for Shadow's present. I couldn't find it anywhere. I check the pocket of the outfit I wore that day, nothing.

"Sonic, what are you looking for?" Knuckles caught me checking under my bed. A black box with a gold ring, was what I wanted to say, "right..."

I pointed to the desk nearby, he helped me over. I went through all the drawers until I found some paper and a pencil. I drew a picture of the box and showed it to Knuckles.

"A box? What's in it," I drew the ring and wrote don't tell Shadow. It's a surprise, on the side. "I'll help you look."
