You thought you knew the truth.
It was the first time for you.
That day you were quiet;
I should've seen through your lies.
You answered each question through clenched teeth
And when you thought I wasn't looking you'd let a tear fall.
I should've seen through your lies;
That day you were quiet.
You wanted nothing to do with me.
I just wanted you to be okay,
Oblivious to what you were waiting so desperately to do.
That day you were quiet.
The next morning my heart sunk,
I said it better not be true.
It was.
My gut told me to take my leave.
I instantly knew my life here was over,
Darkness engulfed me again
Making me feel as if I'm back in the abyss,
Waiting for my freedom to return.
Everything is as it was.
I should've known.
My heart is still broken,
And my soul has turned a charcoal black.
No one led me to this place
While you had disappeared.
No one took my shaking hand
While you had disappeared.
You thought that you knew the truth.
I should've seen through your lies.
Everything is as it was
While you had disappeared.
My heart is still broken,
And my soul has turned a charcoal black.
