Well, friend, I'll tell you:

Life for me hasn't been a perfect porcelain face.

It's had cracks in the paint,

And chips,

And broken pieces of glass,

And places that could easily shatter its fragile body-

Dangerous.

But all this time

I've been protective of my mind,

And shielded the thin surface of sanity,

And locked away the lunatic beneath the surface,

And sometimes I've found myself returning to the past

Where there's been no forgiveness,

So friend, don't you give up.

Don't you throw away your sanity

Before you reach the promise land.

Don't you cry now-

For I'm still fighting,

I'm still protecting my mind,

And life for me hasn't been a perfect porcelain face.
