CHAPTER 2

MAE's P.O.V.

I woke up with the sound of my alarm. I searched for my phone around my bed blindly. I think I was only able to sleep for an hour or two. It's hard to open my eyes. Darn it! Where is my phone? After a few second of searching and I still can't find it, I forcefully opened my eyes and sat up on my bed and looked around. Hearing the noisy alarm gives me a headache, I need to turn it off as soon as possible. I lifted my blankets and all my pillows but I found nothing. Did it fall under my bed? I got off my bed, kneeled down and bended over to check under my bed, when all of a sudden the door to my room opened hitting me on my butt. I lost my balance and hit my forehead at the edge of my bed which made me blackout for a second.

"Owww!" I clutch my forehead as I roll on the floor in pain. I feel dizzy.

"Mae! What are you doing?" I heard my mama shrieked in surprise, but instead of helping me stand up she just started scolding me.

"It's already late and you're still lying on the floor? Why aren't you getting ready yet? You'll be late! Do you want to get fired?" My mama talked too fast I can barely grasp what she was saying.

"I am already awake, mama. And I am going to get ready now." I slowly got up and pushed her out as slowly the pain subsides. "Hurry up or else you will be really late." My mama shouted as she walked towards the door. I shook my head which is a wrong move because I got a little dizzy again.

When she was out, I locked my door and kneeled down and bent over to look for my phone which is still ringing. I saw it blinking a few feet away from me. I sighed before I crawled under my bed to get it. I turned the alarm off as soon as I touched my phone.

"Ahh! Finally! Peace!" I muttered to myself as soon as there was silence but my relief was immediately replaced with worry when I saw the time. It's already 7:15am. I need to be in the office by 8:00 am. I hurriedly stood up and went to the bathroom, and because luck is on my side, I accidentally bumped my little toe at the frame of the door of the bathroom.

"What the f-----!" I bit my lower lip to stop myself from swearing as I bent down and nursed my injured toe. When the pain subsides a little, I slowly walked towards the shower and started washing. I finished in record time. It's already quarter to 8 when I am finally outside our house waiting for a taxi. I really want to ride the train just to save some money but if I do that I know I will be late.

"Oh! Please! Where are you?" I am craning my neck in search for a vacant taxi. Unfortunately, every taxi that passes by is already occupied. I looked at my watch and I only have 10 minutes left before I am officially late for work. I am already panicking, I try my best to stay calm as beads of sweat form in my forehead. Just then, I saw a taxi round up the corner a block away from where I live. I waved my hand frantically so that the driver can see me, and as soon as it stopped right in front of me, I immediately opened the car door and gave the address of our building.

"Sir, Please hurry! Hurry!" I begged the driver. We were speeding up just fine until we were caught in a traffic and the car made a complete stop.

"Sir, what is going on? Why are we stopping?" I asked anxiously.

The driver turned his head to me with a worried expression. "I think there is an accident ahead, Miss."

My heart begins to pound. I didn't answer and just stared blankly ahead. I am doomed! I want to pull all my hair out in frustration. Two consecutive violations in 24 hours is a record for me. I guess I better prepare my resume again, better get ready to go job hunting again soon because with my violations, I will certainly lose my job.
