CHAPTER 46

JUNGKOOK's P.O.V.

I felt a crushing force hit my chest as I watch Jaden and Mae Noona kissing in broad daylight in front of MB building as my taxi passed through them. I balled my hand into a fist and hit the door of the taxi I was riding. "Sir, are you okay?" The chauffeur asked but I didn't bother to reply. I bit my lower lip as I control my anger. I shouldn't have left Mae Noona with Jaden. I shouldn't have trusted that bast*rd. Right at that moment, I wanted to stop the taxi from and get off and hit that man who tale advantage of Mae Noona square in the face but I know it will only make the situation worse. Fvck! I grinded my teeth in anger as I forced to myself to look away from the window. I will deal with that guy later!

After a few minutes of drive, I finally arrived at our company building. Thankfully, no reporter was on sight. I got off the cab hurriedly as I half-run, half-walk towards the lobby. I bowed to everyone I pass through without stopping. I need to see Bang PD-nim as soon as possible.

"Jungkook-ah, how was the-" Kibum-hyung, one of our managers, was about to ask something but I didn't stop walking. I simply bowed to him to acknowledge his presence. "Yah! Jungkook-ah!" He yelled my name three more times but I still ignored him. I felt a hand on my shoulder that made me stop. I looked at the owner and it was Kibum-hyung with a knotted forehead. "Is there a problem, Jungkook-ssi? Why are you ignoring me?" He asked. I sighed and bowed in apology. "I'm sorry, hyung. I am in a hurry. Bang PD-nim is waiting for me. I will talk to you later." I didn't wait for his reply and immediately dashed at the nearby elevator when I heard the door opened.

I immediately closed the door as soon as I got in the elevator and punched the floor where Bang PD-nim's office is situated. I tapped my foot on the floor as I anxiously watch the number change in the monitor on the door. I really hope that Bang PD-nim can help me figure out a way to protect Mae Noona.

The elevator stopped right in front of Bang PD-nim's office. Hos secretary greeted me with a grim expression. "Mr. Jeon Jungkook, Mr. Bang has been waiting for you." She bowed as she directed me towards Bang PD-nim's office. I took a deep breath before I knocked three times at his door. "Come in." I heard him say and that's when I open the door. 

"Hyung," I started but then I stopped when I noticed that Bang PD-nim was not alone in the office. Looking at me are Manager Sejin, Manager Hobeom and Bang PD-nim with a worried expression. 

"Jungkook-ah! Why did you suddenly left?" Manager Sejin asked as he approached me. "It's because he saw Miss Mae and then followed her to MBN and you know what happened next. It's all over the internet." Manager Hobeom answered for me followed by a big sigh. I looked at Hobeom hyung and wondered how he knew what happened and I remembered the members. They probably told him. 

I closed my eyes and calmed down before I tried to explain my side. "Hyung, it was a coincidence and I admit, I acted on impulse and this is my entire fault but please do something to protect Mae Noona." I begged. Bang PD-nim sighed and looked at me pitifully. "Jungkook, do you still remember what happened when you and Mae were in a relationship a few years ago?" I sighed and nodded. "I don't want that to happen again." I muttered. "I want to protect her." I stated with determintation. Bang PD-nim, Manager Hobeom and Manager Sejin turned silent and looked at each other. 

"You really love her that much?" Bang PD-nim asked. I closed my hand into fist and nodded. All three of them sighed at the same time. "Then I guess, I owe you an apology and a letter." Bang PD-nim suddenly moved towards his table and took something from his drawer that looks like a letter. "Mae gave this to me before she left. I was supposed to give it to you but then everything turned chaotic and I thought that it is better for you to forget about her and for you to move on to focus on your career." I wasn't able to understand what Bang PD-nim was saying because I was only focused to the letter right in front of me where my name is obviously written by Mae Noona. I took the letter with shaky hands and looked at Bang PD-nim with a betrayed expression. "I'm sorry." Bang PD-nim muttered. "Don't worry. We will try our best to protect her this time." Bang PD-nim declared and somehow it alleviated some of my worries however I still feel betrayed by the fact that he kept Mae Noona's letter from me.

I looked at the letter in my hand and wanted to read it. I tried opening it with shaky hands. I saw a letter with patchy ink all over it. My heart broke as soon as I read the first line of the letter.

THE LETTER

September 16, 2019

My most beloved Jeon Jungkook,

I believe that I am already gone when you get this letter. I am sorry to leave without a proper goodbye but I have no choice. 

You were a star in the sky that I love to watch especially when you sparkle. You brought nothing but joy and inspiration in my life. You were a dream I never thought I could have. Spending time with you, I realized how lucky I am to be able to see you everyday. 

I love it when you eat the food I cook with gusto even though I know that I am not a very good cook. I love your smile when you excitedly show me a new video you made or a new song you composed. I love when you pout when I tease you. I love it when you sigh when you are exasperated and when you are frustrated. I simply love loving you however as the song goes sometimes love is just not enough.

These past few weeks have been tough. I feel sad whenever I see articles on the internet that are not true about you. I feel anger to those haters who post malicious comments about you when in fact they don't even know you and to those people who suddenly pulled out their contract because of those false articles and accusations but what can I do? Nothing! Because I am no one, I can do nothing to protect you. 

I am sorry if my love for you has brought nothing but trouble. So, from now on, I will remove myself from your life. I, who has brought you nothing but pain and sadness. You deserve better.

I hope nothing but the best for you. Take care of yourself please. Never skip your meal. And don't stay up too late, okay? And one more thing, please don't be too hard on yourself. You are an amazing person. I hope you can see that. I love you, always!

I crumpled the letter as the tears flowed down my face. Why did she decided to do that on her own? We are a couple aren't we? She could've stayed and we could've figured it out together. I don't understand. Why? Didn't she trust me?

"Jungkook-ssi," I looked up with a cloudy vision to see Manager Sejin with a knotted forehead while looking at his phone. "Jungkook-ssi. Did you know that Miss Mae is already in a relationship?" Manager Sejin asked. His question has thrown me off-guard. I cleared my throat and wiped the tears on my face before I spoke again.

"No. She is not in a relationship." I answered without any doubt. "Are you sure?" Manager Hobeom asked. "Of course, I am sure. Why? Is there a problem?" I answered a little louder that what was necessary. "How sure are you? Do you have any proof? You just saw each other again today after two years." Manager Sejin asked again. 

I closed my eyes and count one to ten to calm myself down. Manager Sejin is right. I don't have any proof but my guts is telling me I am 100% sure plus. "Yes." I answered with conviction. "Then who is this guy she was kissing in front of the MBN building?" He asked as he showed me a picture that I saw with my own two yes on my way out of that station.

I clenched my hand and answered through gritted teeth. "That guy is already married. I know! I saw them before." I blurted out. The men in the room looked at me like I am losing my mind. "Then, Miss Mae is...." Manager Hobeom was about to say something but I glared at him and it made him shut his mouth. Bang PD-nim then started clapping his hand to get our attention. "Alright, how about we wait for them to arrive to get some statement so that we can release an official statement to fix whatever we can. Manager Sejin and Manager Hobeom looked at me then at each other before they nodded their head in agreement. "Take your seats gentlemen." Bang PD-nim gestured for us to take the empty seats on his table as we wait.

As minutes passed by, I am slowly getting agitated and keep on looking at the door waiting for someone to enter. Where the hell are they? What's taking them so long?   I was about to call Mae Noona when suddenly the door opened and I jumped out of my seat but it was only Bang PD-nim's secretary bringing us something to drink. "Hmmm.. Don't worry. They'll be here." Bang PD-nim muttered reassuringly. I looked at the letter still in my hand. I can't wait to talk to Mae Noona about this.
