CHAPTER 10

MAE's P.O.V.

I woke up because of the sound of alarm from my phone. I groggily got up from my bed and look at the girl who is still sleeping on her bed beside me. I wonder why she haven't woken up yet. "Jenni, Jenni! It's getting late we have to go to work." I tried waking her up but she didn't even stir. I wonder what is wrong. I got off my bed and went to hers to check on her.

"Jenni?" I touched her shoulder and that's only when she opened her eyes to look at me. "Are you okay?" I asked worriedly. She shook her head in response. I touched her forehead and that's when I realize that she is sick. "Oh My God! You have a fever." I muttered before I ran towards the medicine cabinet to get the thermometer and Paracetamol.

I used the thermometer to check her temperature and found out that her fever is running at 38 degrees Celsius. "Wait, here. I will get you some breakfast so that you can drink your medicine." I offered. And so I went to the kitchen and tried to search on the internet on how to cook Rice Gruel. I followed everything that was written in that certain blog but I ended up burning the pan instead. I am really a hopeless case. Instead of trying to cook again, I ordered some congee for Jenni. After a few minutes the congee finally arrived.

"Jenni, can you eat some food before you drink your medicine?" I asked as I approached her with the congee in hand. She sluggishly sat up on her bed before she took the bowl of congee in my hand and started eating. I watch her eat with shaking hands. I was about to take the bowl from her hand so that I can feed it to her when she moved it away. "Mae, you are going to be late for work. I will be fine. Go and get ready now." She ordered with a hoarse voice. "But-" I tried to reason out but she only held her palm in front of me to stop me from talking. "Go! Now! Or we will both be in trouble." I sighed before I reluctantly left her bed to take a shower and get ready to go to work.

"Are you sure you are going to be fine alone?" I asked Jenni before I go through our door. She waved her hand as if shooing me away. I sighed in resignation. "Okay! If you are hungry there are still some congee left. All you have to do is reheat it and I put your medicines on top of your table. Don't forget to drink it after 4 hours, okay?" There was no response. I think she already fell asleep. I carefully closed the door on my way out.

I took the subway for a faster and cheaper way to go to work. I need to be thrifty because I don't have enough money left. I wish it will be payday soon. I arrived at work still earlier than the designated time which is good because I will not have any deduction in my salary. I greeted everyone at work as a sign of respect even though some of them ignore me but I don't take it to heart. Maybe its the cultural difference so I simply shrugged it off. The day proceeded as usual. I was on my own world busy translating stuff for BTS Memories 2017 when one of our senior came to my table and asked me a favor.

"Mae-ssi, can you please go to MBC Station? The boys need an interpreter. A British interviewer just came in today and the boys are scheduled for an interview." Areum-ssi, one of the Seniors in the Production Team requested. At first I didn't react because I wasn't able to grasp what she said because my mind is still in my work. "Mae-ssi?" She called my name while waving her hand in front of my face. I blinked twice before I looked at her with wide eyes as I pointed at myself when it finally sink ink. "Me? Why Me? Namjoon-ssi is good in English, and don't the boys have their usual interpreter?" I asked. I don't think I am ready to meet Jung Kook-ssi at the moment.

"Namjoon-ssi only knows Basic English and Mina-ssi, had an emergency. Her daughter was rushed in the hospital, she had no choice but to leave." She explained before she looked at me pleadingly. Gosh! Why does it have to be today?

"You are the only one here who is actually great in English here." She complimented me. "Don't worry! You will be fairly compensated because this is an extra job. Plus you will get to see how the boys interact with international media. It will be good for you and your company." She said as she wiggled her eyebrows. It sounded reasonable. I heaved a sigh in resignation. Either way, I know I have no choice, and so I asked her the address. She happily handed me a piece of paper with a written address like she already knew that I would go.
