I wrapped my arms around my body with each hand rubbing my other arm to keep me warm. My breathing quickened as I shivered slightly. James yanked the blanket off of me awhile ago and I was left to suffer in cold while lying on his couch."You need to get out." James sternly said, jaw clenching while looking down at me. I glared back, still being stubborn and annoyed. I'm his guest!! He should treat me like one. How dare he ruin my peaceful sleep?
James narrowed his eyes at me and I blankly stared back. None of us backing down or breaking eye contact. It seems like he's just as stubborn as I am.
"You've been stinking my couch all day long yesterday, and today will not be the same." He said like a parent scolding his teenage kid.
Yesterday I never set one foot out of the cabin and you probably know why. James went to work in his grandpa's farm and then when he came back, I was still sleeping on his couch.
I couldn't sleep that night; veronica's words kept haunting me and taunting me for being a fool.
After James woke me up from my sleep, I stayed inside all day long afraid to leave or look outside the windows. What if Veronica saw me and really did follow her words? Call me a coward bitch but I'm not ready to die in the wrong time.
Besides, She's a royalty so excuse me for being cautious from death.
I groaned and tried to cover my eyes with my slim arms from the bright sun light, but James roughly pulled me off the couch.
He placed my body on top of his left shoulder with his arms keeping me in place. I punched his back repeatedly as he walked us to his kitchen with me hoping he'll let me down.
However, I gave up after two punches, being too exhausted to fight or argue.
"We'll eat and then go to the village to get you some clothes. You can't be wearing mine all the time." He spoke and I sighed, knowing he was right.
"What if I don't want to leave?" I asked, stubbornly as he placed me down on the wooden kitchen table. I crossed my arms on my chest in a protective manner.
He sighed, shaking his head at my childish behavior and reached out behind me. He grabbed something I couldn't see, then pulled back for me to find a green apple in his hand.
He handed it to me and went to fetch another one for himself. I took a bite while frowning slightly as he ignored my question.
He took some time biting on his apple, enjoying the taste and I gave him a warning look. If he doesn't answer me, I'm going to scream.
He sighed as he caught my glare before answering me with a question instead. "Why won't you leave? There's nothing to be afraid of." He paused as I groaned quietly before he continued. "I know it's a different country for you with different people-" Different century, I thought internally. "-but I'm here by your side to help you. If you're afraid of the guards then don't be; they never visit the village unless there's some event or a festival which is not happening until next week."
I took another huge bite of the apple he gave me, feeling its sour and juice. I thought of his answer. Veronica can never be at the village since it's where most of the people live in.
And like James said they don't go there unless there's a festival or an event.
I looked up at james's hopeful eyes as they patiently waited for me to reveal my final decision. "Alright but only for a short time." I said, finally giving in while still honestly, doubting my choice.
James smiled happily, jumping up and down, even giggling cheerfully. I raised my eyebrow at how gay he's being but let it slide and let him enjoy his small victory dance. I just hope I don't regret this decision.
