Gone forever

My eyes flew open the moment my back hit the floor. The first thing I saw was the bright blue sky and the first thing I sensed was the warmth wet tingly ground; the sensation of grass. The smell of dirt and fresh air hit my nostrils.

I was scared, actually terrified. I've never experienced this before, at least not consciously. The words of Charlotte promising me she will follow, made my stomach jump in excitement. It brought joy to my heart.

She's choosing me. She's choosing to let everything go for me. I'm wondering if in any moment, she'll show up. Will she be next to me? She said she's not going to come until she did a few things. So, I guess I must wait.

I sat up and found trees, a few feet in front of me. Trees I knew by soul and looked very much the same even after all these years.

But wait, what year am I in?

I looked around and found the lake I was very familiar with to my left and when I looked to the other side, I saw the castle. I was warm inside with feeling comfort and love. A feeling you only feel when you have been away from home for a long time. It feels like a dream but it's not.

It's real. I am back! I am finally here after all this time of waiting. I couldn't help the rush I had inside so I stood up and practically ran to the front of the castle. I saw two guards, standing outside but they didn't notice me as they conversed.

The moment I was near them, they noticed but I glided past them as quick as I could. They yelled for me to stop but I didn't stop running.

Going in, it seemed like nothing changed. The guards ran behind me, clearly not recognizing me in my clothes or by my shorter hair. I ran to the dining room and saw one of the servants I knew.

She ran away from my path, looking scared and probably thinking like everyone else; I was an intruder.

When I was about to go upstairs, arms grabbed me from behind my waist and tackled me to the floor. A body was on top of me and shouting to the guards to get me out of here. I turned around and should be mad but I smiled as Malcolm, my butler, came to view.

He wasn't looking at me, mostly shouting at the guards for letting me walk in while they both approached us. I hid my smirk and called out his name. ''Malcolm.''

That's when he froze, his words running dry and his eyes were wide open. His face became so pale and his mouth hung open. He looked down and  the moment he saw me, he jumped back and screamed.

I chuckled at his reaction but stopped when the guards grabbed my arms roughly pulling me up. They clearly didn't see my face and couldn't notice Malcolm's reaction. ''Wait! Wait!'' He yelled at them and pushed them away from me, as my arms were set free.

Malcolm kept staring, looking terrified but mostly shocked at my presence. ''Your majesty,'' He kneeled down in front of me, shocking everyone around us who was seeing Malcolm submitting for someone other than Zoe.

I looked around over everyone, the maids, servants and the guards, most of them gasped at my sight, recognizing me and some immediately took a kneel. The rest followed after the shock waved down.

I felt pride and that feeling of power hit me again. Something I truly missed and the grin on my face showed it.

A familiar face came to view and when I looked at him, he was smiling cheekily and studying my clothes before looking back up, catching my eyes with his blues; James.

He was dressed like Malcolm, assuming he became a butler, and his blonde hair was back, long and shinny. He had a mustache growing and a subtle beard. It was like ten years ago before he left for Spain.
