''What is going on here?'' I heard the Vice president question us, his eyes wandering around the room but lingering on the time machine.

I know he managed to see the light from the machine. He could hear it working from outside the room but I can only hope that he didn't see Veronica's figure as she went.

''Mr Vice president, what a lovely surprise.'' I tried to act casually, squeezing Olivia's shoulder as she sat down on the chair. I could feel her nervousness but I wanted her to remain calm.

''Ms.Harvey, what are you working on?'' He addressed the machine, frowning curiously while ignoring my greetings. I faked a cheeky smile and walked towards him.

''I have been doing a few testing on my professor's machine. I wanted to see if it works.'' I gave a fake excuse, feeling a little bad for putting professor under the bus but, it was needed so he won't find out about the lie.

This is professor's time machine after all and they do have records of it from the past. Specially after he received a permission from the government to proceed working on it.

''What is it exactly?'' He walked towards the bed, examining it's disturbed form. I stood behind him, keeping my distance and smile on my face.

''A time machine.'' With that, he turned around with a puzzled face, raising an eyebrow questionably.

''Does the president know about this?'' He asked and I could feel my heart racing with my palms sweating.

''No.'' I shook my head, pausing as I thought of what to say. ''I didn't feel it was necessary.'' I blurted out but maintained my confident posture while he kept his intimidating eyes on me.

''You do know the rules, right?'' He tested while I nodded my head, intertwining my hands behind my back.

"Of course, I just didn't see a reason why I should take your permission. We only wanted to test it and see if it works. Why raise your hopes up?'' I spoke confidently, keeping eye contact with him.

He walked back to stand in front of me while I kept my head held high.

He stared down at me, remaining expressionless while my eyes never left his.

''That is against the rules, Ms. Harvey.'' He paused, thinking to himself. ''If you want to proceed testing, you must sign an agreement with us. Due to what you did, we might have to take some serious disciplinary actions and might form an investigation on your lab.'' He concluded and turned to his guards, nodding his head for them to start taking stuff.

I glanced back and forth between him and Olivia, who noticed the huge gulp I took from how nervous I'm starting to get. She walked towards me, pursing her lips before standing next to me and squeezing my arm.

I knew it was a sign that things are alright, which I don't understand why technically but I just nodded my head. Glancing back at the vice president, we both smiled sarcastically in response.

''We'll leave you to it.'' I walked past the old man, hearing Olivia follow until we walked out the door. I kept walking with Olivia behind me until we were a good distance away from ear shoot.

''What is it?'' I asked, Olivia continued to walk and keeping a calm exterior.

''I sent a message in the computer to Rachel. She will erase all recent and previous records involving you and Veronica. Nothing but the old records will remain.'' She paused while we took a turn to another white hall.

''I told her to forge a new record, showing nothing but testing subjects for yesterday and today.'' I huffed in relief, turning to Olivia looking curious but happy.
