I wanted to talk to Veronica and explain things, apologize maybe, but she denied me to speak. She rested her head on my shoulder and fell asleep while I was holding her. She must have been exhausted from everything that happened today. I carried her to the comfy bed nearby and tucked her in. She was really out cold.
I smile down at her but frowned at the dried tears on her cheeks. Did I really hurt here like this?
Trying not to think about it too much, I went outside to see the two. They were both sitting on some barrels, leaning their back on the house and talking quietly among themselves. "Hey." I presented myself to them and they both turned with opposite expressions; Zoe was smiling at me but Ana was frowning.
"Is it true?" Ana paused, her frown deepening. "Everything Zoe said? About you being a time traveller? That sounds insane, Charlotte. I don't believe it one bit." I sighed at Ana, jumping up to sit on the barrel next to her and avoiding her eyes.
"How did you manage to convince James with this silly story?" I looked at her unimpressed before turning away.
I didn't know what to say.
"But he seemed very convinced. He even sounded convincing." Zoe added her own opinion on to this. Both girls were waiting for me to speak, to confirm James's words.
Turning to them, I gave them a soft sided smile. "It's true. All of it." I paused, biting my bottom lip. "And you're right Ana; It sounds insane. However, I can prove to you." The two girls raised their eyebrows daringly at me, eyes filling up with excitement and curiosity.
"I'll be back." Standing up, I walked back into the house and grabbed my bag from the floor. Being quietly as possible, I closed the door softly behind me and went back to my seat.
They both leaned in with anticipation as I opened up the bag and took my phone out. I brought it with me since I thought it might help me in some way. Now, I can use it to prove my point without having to use much words.
"Here," I handed Ana the objective which she stared at with confusion. ''This is a phone. Let me open it for you.'' I tapped on the screen and a bright light appeared, causing Ana to jump in her seat and throw the phone on the ground.
''What the fuck?!'' I hastily stood up and picked it up from the floor, examining any cracks or scratches but thankfully, it seemed okay.
I turned to Ana who looked petrified to say the least. She was staring at the phone in my hand, leaning back with fear, away from it. Sighing, I looked over at Zoe, who quite the opposite, seemed amazed. She stared at the phone in my hand with a glint in her eyes that I can't help but to raised my eyebrow at.
Silently handing the phone to the young teenager, she smiled down at it and touched the screen. She swiped the screen and was surprised to see it move. She looked up, grinning. ''This is amazing. You really are from the future.'' She squealed and started swiping through the phone, clearly liking technology. Teenagers.
''What exactly is that thing?'' Ana pointed at it, not terrified anymore but curious. I smiled gently at her and responded. ''It is a phone. Something that every person in my time carries. You can use it for many many things and one of them is to keep us communicated. No matter how far a person is, with a phone you can hear their voice, see their face and rather using letters, we text.''
''Text?'' She frowned and I chuckled, sitting back down on the barrel. Zoe was still engrossed with the phone, giggling as she swiped and tapped on the apps.
''You write something on the phone and the message will be sent to the person you want to send the message to. The other person will receive the message and write back right away. All that can happen at the same moment.'' I explained, watching Ana get lost in her thought.
