I groaned when a voice I recognized very well, started shouting. ''This isn't right! You can't do this!'' For some reason, I was on the floor and my back was stiff while my head was throbbing in pain.My eyes were closed as I turned to my side but stopped midway when an agonizing feeling coursed through my abdomen. My eyes shot open and I groaned loudly while turning to lay on my back again. I hissed, reaching to touch my side to feel a cold wet liquid on my shirt.
Wait, how did I get inside this shirt? I looked up at the ceiling and frowned. The last thing I remember is reviving Zoe back to life. It was before getting knocked down by a couple of guards.
I brought my hand up to see red stains all over it. My pupils grew wide and I sat up to look down at myself. There was blood all over my shirt and when I lifted the fabric off, I saw a bandage that was wrapped loosely around my body. I lifted it slightly off and my heart raced with the sight in front of me.
A visible huge scratch wound was underneath. It was stitched but due to it, not being properly fused, it reopened with the slightest movement. It seemed like who did it was rushed. It looked bad and if it isn't cleaned, I may get an infection.
I lowered my shirt when a flashback came back to me when I got scrapped by something in the river. I remember feeling pain on my side but I ignored it for Zoe's sake. She was my number one priority at that moment.
Zoe, Where is she? Where am I? I examined my surroundings to find myself in a dark small room. There was nothing in it but the dark brick four walls. There was a window that was barricaded with metal bars and a metal door with a small opening that was sealed as well. I was in a room or better words, locked in a room.
I didn't understand why I was here. Did something happen while I was unconscious? The voice outside was muffled but I knew who it belonged to; it was Ana and she didn't sound happy at all.
I turned around to face the ground and placed both of my hands on the hard floor to push myself up. I struggled while I stretched my back up and placed my arms gently around my stomach. I breathed out, feeling a lot of my strength taken from me before I took gentle steps towards the door. With every step, Ana's voice got clearer.
''You have no right to throw me in here when all I did was tell you the truth.'' I looked through the window, still hearing her complains as loud as a saxophone. ''My father will not like this.'' I searched for her but all I could see were other doors like mine. I was in some sort of a jail and I couldn't understand why.
Did something happen that made them put me here? and not just me but also, Ana. Where was that girl anyways?
"A-nna...'' I called out, my voice echoing in the dark hall and cracking due to my mouth being dry. The screaming has stopped as soon as I said her name.
I waited for a reply but didn't get any. I called out to her again and this time I heard a gasp and a voice squeak. ''Charlotte, you're here.'' I could hear her but I couldn't see her face anywhere. My eyes seek behind the metal doors, hoping to catch her face through the openings. However, I couldn't see her. Maybe she's in the room next to mine which is why I can't catch a glimpse of her.
"Why are we here, Ana...?" I swallowed the limp in my throat and licked my chapped lips. "Where are we?" I continued asking. My mind was on a dark cloud and spinning with the endless possibilities. I couldn't exactly form a theory due to being too exhausted to think.
I heard a stressful sigh from the blonde and I frowned, not wanting to hear the unimaginable. A dark feeling emerged from me and I know that what is going to be said, is something I wouldn't like. "Oh Charlotte," I could hear the sympathy in her voice but the temptation was killing me. Can she just spill it already? "Things got out of hand after you went looking for James. Zoe was gone and princess Veronica was the first to notice. She stopped the wedding to search for her but she couldn't find her. That's when things got hysterical and everyone started searching."
