I intensely pressed on the x button before pressing the o as a finishing move. Alex's character fall to the ground in response and I cheered loudly. The screen congratulated me and called him a loser.

''That's how you win!'' I shouted, laughing at him mockingly as he threw his controller on the couch next to him, cursing and blaming the controller.

''It's not fair. My controller was not working!'' I chuckled as he complained and grumbled while crossing his arms against his chest. He slumped down on the couch and I smiled wickedly at him.

He looked up at me with a glare before faking a smile. ''You're my boss anyways. I had to let you win.'' He gave an another excuse, smirking to hide his hurt pride while I snickered, not believing him.

''Sureeee.'' I threw my controller at him as it fell on his lap and walked backwards. ''It's not like I scratched your ego or anything.'' I shrugged causally as his smile fell, eyes narrowing as I laughed again.

''Jess can play better. Why don't you play against her?'' He pointed at Jess who was laying on the other couch, texting away on her phone. She looked back at us at the mention of her name, specifically Alex and muttered a nah before going back to her phone.

Alex looked back at her, betrayed and mouth fell agape while I smiled, excusing myself.

''Well, I'm tired and going downstairs to get some water.'' I sighed heavenly, turning around to walk down the stairs, hearing Alex shout from behind me.

''Come back for a rematch! Why are you quitting now, loser? It should be three rounds!'' I turned my head with a grin, stopping at the edge of the stairs to look back at my defeated opponent.

''Nope.'' I simply answered and walked down, hearing him shout for more while I smiled to myself.

To be fair, he can easily kick my ass for revenge but after a lucky win from the first round, I'm good. The last time we played, I lost 7 to two wins. It was bad and I admit, I did train myself for this weekend so my day has been made.

I reached the bottom floor, heading to the kitchen to grab myself a cup of a water. I passed by the living room to see no one was there and frowned to myself. I continued my way to the kitchen, taking a cup out and pouring myself some water. I drank from it, hearing no noise except from upstairs where Alex and Jess were.

Where is everybody? I walked around the house and didn't find anyone. I looked through the glass doors that lead to the backyard and no one was outside.

A noise from the bathroom caught my attention and I walked towards it to see Karen drying her hands on her jeans.

''Hey, Karen.'' I called out to her as she looked up, jumping at my voice and placing her hand on her chest.

''You scared me, boss.'' She breathed out while I huffed and grinned before turning serious again.

I questioned her. ''You seen where Veronica or Olivia went? I can't seem to find them, not even Chris.''

She placed her hand down as my scare disappeared and shrugged to herself. ''Sorry Charlotte, I have no clue. Veronica was watching a movie with me earlier though.'' I nodded my head at her, feeling a twist inside of my chest; something was feeling terribly wrong and I can't put my finger on it.

''Hey, you got ice cream?'' I was pulled out from the dark side of my mind and blinking away as Karen asked. She twisted her head at me, smiling curiously and I nodded at the weird look she was giving me. ''Yeah, yeah there's some in the kitchen. Knock yourself out.''

She smirked, thanking me before going to the kitchen while I kept frowning to myself. Something inside of me was telling me that, this is about Olivia telling Veronica about the time machine. However, I didn't want to overthink it.
