Charlotte's POV

I observed myself in the mirror after I was done with my new quite beautiful look and James wrapped his arm around my shoulders, smiling cheekily.

"Now, we look like twins." He said, chuckling as we examined my outfit together, that actually looked very similar to his.

James didn't have a dress in his closet since he lives alone with no woman occupying his life and because of that, I had to dress up as a man, wearing the exact same outfit as his except mine was a different color; navy blue.

"Don't you think they'll notice my long hair and feminine figure?" I bit my lower lip, slightly nervous and getting these second thoughts about tonight.

I had my wavy black hair tied in a man bun which some men here with long hair seem to do, and my clothes were slightly big on me which hid the curves of my waist and the outline of my breast.

Clearly, I had no reason to be worried but I can't help but feel anxious.

"Breath, my friend. You're worrying too much." He patted my back and sat on his bed to wear his boots.

"Let's just enjoy this night and if we were caught...." He paused, pretended to be thinking. "We run. Simple as that." He smiled reassuringly at me and I nodded my head. He's right, I should relax and try to enjoy this night. Until I can go back home.

James finished wearing his boots and stood up, heading towards the door. I followed closely behind him. Fear and excitement circling through my heart.

-----------------------------------------------

"Why are we wearing masks?" I asked while looking at the people who were laughing, drinking wine and enjoying the night with one another.

We somehow were able to find a way in through the walls and got past the guards who were checking if people had an invitation card or not. Now, we stood in front of a crowd of the richest and the wealthiest, as James called them, inside this enormous castle.

It was nice; a lot of paintings on the wall, fire illuminating the entire place, huge windows were you could see the dark star-full sky.

"The guards know my face pretty well since I've broken in multiple times so it's best to keep these masks on and they come with the outfit." I nodded my head and wondered how many times did he broke in for the guards to even recognize him.

"Well, you're right but why am I wearing one too?" I frowned, examining people's outfits. Women wear dresses and sliver necklaces while men wear coats and gold. Pretty old fashioned for sure. James laughed while swinging his arm on to my back.

I grunted as air puffed out of me with how strong his hit was. "You were escaping from the guards this morning so you better keep it on. Besides you have to be a man, we don't want them to notice your feminine face. Now stop asking questions and let's have fun." He grabbed my wrist and pulled me away from the window that we climbed through.

"Oh and remember." He turned around, pointing a warning finger at my face while saying "You're a MAN now so roughen up your voice. You sound to girly." I rolled my eyes but agreed nonetheless; don't want us to get caught and imprisoned or whatever they do to people who break into royalties party.

He chuckled and winked at me before turning around to continue walking.

I followed him closely behind and my anxious self caught people staring at us before I looked down to the floor, avoiding their eyes.

I'm pretty awkward when it comes to people's gazes.

I had my eyes on my boots for a few moments before I looked up and found James figure was entirely gone. He was nowhere near my sight and that's when the anxious feeling grew within me.
