"Here, have a taste." I pulled a chocolate bar out from my bag and showed it to Zoe. I gestured for her to take it as she stared at it with wonder and curiosity.

We were back inside the house again after the time Veronica and I spent outside together. We didn't spent long out after heavily making out; we didn't want to risk taking the chance as someone could easily spot us.

Zoe glanced nervously at me from across the table before turning to the sweet milky brown chocolate bar and taking it from my hand. Hesitatingly, she took a bite and I smirked as I watched her reaction; her eyes grew wide with astonishment and a smile escaped her pinkish lips.

''Oh my god!'' She almost shouted with excitement and eagerly took another bite. I watched with amusement and so did Veronica who sat down next to me. I stole a glance at her as she was biting her lower lip while staring at the chocolate bar with curiosity too.

I chuckled silently as I took the second bar I had to give it to her, my last one. She didn't notice at first but as I nudged her shoulder, she turned to me and looked down at the one in my head. She shook her head, kindly refused my offer but I insisted and luckily, her hunger took control.

Taking the wrap off, she took a bite and moaned at the taste while I tried not to think to dirty of it and just smiled with victory.

''What in the heavenly name is this?'' I heard Ana ask as she took a bite from Zoe's piece. I chuckled and said. ''Kitkat.''

They all frowned at me but ignored it as they have heard a lot of weird shit come out of my mouth for the past few hours.

I stared in silence as they all ate and finished off the chocolate bars that I was saving for myself but oh well, I didn't mind.

''Is there more?'' Zoe asked, almost begging for another one but I shook my head no with sympathy in my eyes. She pouted and slumped her shoulders.

Ana cleared her throat and leaned forward in her seat while intertwining her hands together on the table. ''So, why are you exactly back, Charlotte?'' She paused and licked her lips before saying, ''I mean, are you tending to stay here for good or just for awhile and then leave?''

I noticed how Veronica was shifting in her seat uncomfortably and looking away from me, avoiding my gaze. I wanted the ground to swallow me at that moment and wished that Ana wouldn't have said a thing.

But either way, the question was coming sooner or later. I can't avoid it even if I wanted to. I came here for a purpose that I plan to do.

''Did you come for my mother? Because you missed her?'' Zoe asked with a glint in her eyes and a smile on her face.

I shook my head and swallowed the lump in my throat. ''Not really,'' I watched her smile fade slowly. ''Actually something bad is going to happen and I'm here to stop it from happening.''

''What is it?'' That's when Veronica turned to look at me, her eyes frowning with a slight worry behind her voice. I turned to her and gave her a sad smile.

I didn't know why I couldn't speak, how I didn't dare to tell her. There is so much she doesn't know; about her daughter passing that day but I changed it, her family ruling for 65 more years when it should've ended a long time ago, her passing in two days. My tongue was twisted. What am I supposed to say?

''I don't know if I should say.'' I spoke the truth; I wasn't sure if I wanted her to know. I watched as her frown deepened and her green eyes are getting darker. I looked away, knowing what's coming next.

''Goddamn it, Charlotte!'' She slammed her hand on the table, causing Zoe and Ana to flinch but I didn't; I expected it to happen. Veronica never had a good temper.
