You went back to Jim's building, going straight to your room to try to avoid jim. You just needed some time to not be cross with him, and also to process this whole thing with William. You were so glad he seemed happier....
Moments passed, and there was a light tap on your door. You sat up from your bed, drawing your eyebrows together.
"Come in—" you stated, and jim clicked open the door. You made yourself smile softly at seeing him, although you were still upset...
"Hey..."
"Y/n, I apologize if I offended you." Jim stated, looking at you silently a moment to observe your reaction. You sighed, nodding slowly in response.
".... yeah. .... I know you have work to do, I just... wish you could leave others out of it..." you replied, jim simply shook his head and response. You nodded slowly again.
".... alright."
"....... may I come in—?" Jim asked, you caught the hint that he was asking to stay. You nodded once more, scooching over on your bed to make room. At least you had changed this much in jim... he wasn't afraid to be with you anymore.
".... James, I miss when everything was normal..." you mumbled. Jim breathed out in relief.
"Thank god I thought it was just me~ everything seems dull and depressing. They all need to lighten up." Jim huffed, facepalming while smiling. You laughed softly and smacked his shoulder.
"Hey, be nice! They just lost their dad—- well—- they think they did, anyways... and. Well. It's probably for the best that they did, but.. you know. .... but yes, i know. I'm proud of you for trying so hard to empathize though.. or fake it, at least." You smiled, and jim smiled back at you. As you two chatted, there was another small knock at the door. You drew your eyebrows together, wondering who that could be. ... praying it wasn't William.
"..... come in——?" You asked, as the door slowly clicked open to reveal a smol Alex boi. He looked upset by something, you immediately got up and went to him.
"Alex—? What's wrong?"
"Bad dream......" Alex whispered quietly, you picked him up in your arms and sat with him on your bed. Jim kind of watched, not saying anything, but observed how you treated the kid and evidently tried to pick up on how to try to make Alex hate him less. You stroked the boy's hair softly, trying to calm him.
"Alex, I'm so sorry... don't worry, you're safe now... I'm here. Nothing bad will happen..." you stated, kissing the top of his head lightly. He leaned against you quietly, you noticed the slight trembling of his hands and the paleness of his face. The poor kid....
You saw jim go to stand up, but you took his arm with your free hand to make him stay with you. It was good that the two were around each other more. Just having each other's presence will lead to tolerance on both ends.
"Alex, if you want you can stay in here with us tonight?" You asked him, still holding him close. Jim, evidently EXTREMELY uncomfortable with the suggestion, shot you a look. You shot him the same look back, still forcing him to stay with you. Alex, too disturbed to even care about Jim's presence just slowly nodded, closing his eyes as he cuddled into you. You laid on the bed again, Alex beside you as you kept him in your arms, glaring at jim until he uneasily did the same. Within seconds Alex had managed to fall asleep again, comforted greatly by being with you. You smiled at the still extremely agitated jim, before leaning forward to kiss his nose.
"It's alright. He's not hurting anyone. Besides, you two need to get along better. Maybe you can learn from each other." You stated, jim slowly nodded, not bothering to cover up how uncomfortable he was. But hey, what kind of girlfriend would you be if you didn't push him out of his comfort zone every once and a while.
