You sat up in bed, wondering where jim had gone off to. You were glad he seemed a little calmer last night, however you couldn't help but worry over the well-earned distrust that jim might be hurting someone or doing something stupid. If he laid one finger on those boys...
You got out of bed, getting dressed quickly to go check on Marcus and Alex. Assuming Marcus was still there, anyways- he seemed like the kind of friend that was hard to get rid of. Which would be perfect for Alex, maybe he'd finally have a friend his age that he wouldn't scare off..
You slipped out of the bedroom, the boys' laughing immediately being audible throughout the halls. So, you relaxed, pulling out your phone as you headed in their direction. You decided to check up on William, see how he was doing.
'Hey William, heading back soon?' You texted, to receive an immediate reply.
'Yeh sorry, just on my way. See you soon.'
You nodded, reassured that everyone was okay. You stopped in on the boys, smiling at seeing Alex in a fit of laughter over some obscure joke Marcus was going on about but stopped at seeing you.
"Oh hey, y/n!!! Sleep well???" Marcus asked happily, jumping up from his seated position. You nodded in response, shooting the kid a smile.
"Yes, Marcus, I did. I hope you two did as well. Have either of you seen james?" You asked, tilting your head slightly. Alex shrugged and shook his head, however Marcus seemed to tense up a bit through his happy grin.
"No, not yet- why do you ask?" Marcus replied, you noticed his slight change in behaviour. He seemed nervous, although trying to hide it internally. He was an odd kid- evidently he had a lot of secrets. But, then again, who doesn't? You know you had a few yourself, although around jim nothing stayed secret. You'd ask him what he thought of Marcus again, later. Try to pry into him a little deeper, see what he's dug up on the kid..
"Just wondering, I haven't seen him yet this morning so I don't know what he's up to." You grin at the two boys, Alex just nodded then smiled, seemingly just happy that you were there. The small boy basically treated you like his mom... which, you didn't necessarily mind besides the fact it made you feel a LOT older than you were. You loved him though, he practically was family to you. So, you picked him up and hugged him, causing him to laugh.
"Oi, dont squirm, I need a good morning hug!!!" You laughed at the wriggling boy, playfully trying to push out of your grasp. Unexpectedly, Marcus attempted to tackle hug you as well, and then you had two little kids in hysterics on top of you. You joined in on their laughter, hugging the two of them because you basically already loved Marcus to death. It was still strange that Marcus didn't seem to be phased by the fact he was basically locked in a building full of psychopaths— but, then again, he didn't seem to type to shy away from adventure. He is friends with Alex, after all.
"Anyways..." you began, managing to escape out of the grips of the two as you grinned. "I'm going to go find james, as for you two peanuts, no fighting!" You grinned as you headed out of the room, leaving the laughing boys to each other's company. You headed down the hall to Jim's office, where you expected him to be. He was of course, although accompanied by William. They seemed to be having a very serious talk about something- well, William was, anyways. Jim was smiling calmly, while his eyes remained dark and threatening. You took a step back as you quickly read the room, although it was too late, jim heard you. His smile widened and he waved William off, dismissing him from the conversation that he obviously did not want you to be a part of.
"Good morning, my dear~ how are you this morning?" Jim asked, although your attention had still been on William who glared at jim before nudging past you and out the door. Your gaze landed on jim as you crossed your arms, your expression hardening.
"James, what were you talking about." You asked, knowing full well he wouldn't tell you. As predicted, he shook his head, putting his hands in his pockets casually.
"Just business, my dear~ nothing for you to worry about." He responded with his usual smile. You weren't going to give up, though.
"James, tell me."
"Y/n, i think you should drop this~"
"James, I'm not going to let it go, Williams my friend now what did you say to h-"
"DROP. IT." Jim shouted in a sudden burst of rage, before calming back down to his usual, unfazed smile. You were taken aback, he hadn't used that tone with you in a long time...
.... it turned you on a bit. .... of course, you'd never let him know that.
"Fine. Fine, jim. Have it your way." You stated, glaring at him as you exited the room once more, refusing to talk to him any more until he chilled out. Of course, now you were on your way to interrogate William as to what jim had said to him- you'd have to ask Jim about Marcus later. Surprisingly, despite Jim's outburst, you weren't mad at him- you were actually relieved. This is the jim you knew, and fell for- an unstable, unpredictable psychopath that you loved, and loved you. It was good to have him back.
