William shifted his position to lean his back against the wall, taking another sip of tea.

"... so what's the deal with Marcus?" William asked, looking over at you. You shook your head in response, sipping your tea as well.

"I don't know, what do you mean?"

"Hold up, you don't have a secret deal with him or something? I assumed you three had some sort of plan, hence we left Alex and... ... why are we trusting him???" William asked, his eyebrows drawing together. You looked at him quietly a moment, before taking a deep breath.

".... alright here's the deal. This is all I know. Marcus sought out Alex, they became friends. Marcus knows basically everything about everyone, including things that the person directly involved didn't seem to know. Marcus got taken by Harvey as you know, and was interrogated for information on how to kill Alex- which he claimed not to know. However, now that Alex is taken, Marcus seems convinced that Alex will end up fine in the end. So this kid knows something, although he isn't saying what. But jim seems to trust him- maybe he's in on something with Marcus, and that's what they're hiding from me..." you concluded, your voice quieting at the end of your sentence. William seemed to think it over, before slowly nodding.

"..... that's actually a very probable explanation. .... bravo."

You smiled in response, lowering your head in a playful half-bow.

"Why thank you, I didn't think it was too bad myself-." You replied, earning another quiet smile from William in response. You took another sip of your tea, before deciding to set the cup down before you got addicted like William was.

"... anyways, what should we do....? I know everyone has secrets, but in cases like this it could mean life or death..." you said, looking up at William with concern written across your expression. William seemed to think for a moment, before signing.

"... I think we should drop it. Jim's clever, and Marcus seems so as well. Neither are necessarily 'trustworthy', I wouldn't say, but... for now, I think we just need to listen to what they say." William replied, causing you to huff begrudgingly.

"I know... I know. I just... hate not doing anything." You mumbled. William stared down at his tea, before you saw the slightest smile cross his expression. You tilted your head, raising an eyebrow.

"... who says we can't do anything?" William asked. You gasped melodramatically in response.

"William!! Are you suggesting that we should go off on our own behind Jim's back and try to stop Harvey before he can cause any more damage??" You asked, hiding your smile behind fake offence and shock that William could be stubborn and.. well. Sometimes careless. William smiled again.

..... okay, so maybe it wasn't the best idea. But William was right- everyone had secrets. ... however, every secret emanated from jim. For once... having a secret that jim was discluded from was good. .... probably. Well, that's what you told yourself, anyways. In reality you were just salty at jim still from treating you poorly under stress, and this was a way to get him back. A very dangerous way, but... a way.

The mutual resonation on the idea began to grow as you and William discussed your next moves over tea- you knew you were basically asking for a death sentence. But... you were tired of waiting around. You needed Alex safe, and although this wasn't the best way, you had to do something..
