You let William in as he knocked, both of you habitually sitting under the blanket fort in your room. As he gave you a cup of tea, you observed him to see how he was doing with the loss of Ty. He seemed upset, his eyes a little cold however trying to keep it together.
"..... how are you doing?" You ask, looking at him worriedly, putting your own emotions aside for now. William shrugged, slowly sipping his tea. So, you tried to continue the conversation besides his lack of response.
".... So..... you have actual human emotions besides anger...." you smiled weakly, trying to lighten the mood by making a half hearted teasing joke about how William cried over Ty. You immediately cringed at yourself immediately after, you probably shouldn't joke about that...
Nevertheless, William smiled weakly and looked away.
"Mm. .... I'm not a robot, y/n. In fact, there's a lot you don't know about me." William replied, his voice was quiet. You slowly nodded, deciding not to push that conversation any further.
".... so here's something for you. I think James is cheating on me." You stated, your voice going quiet. You saw William freeze as he stared at you silently for a few minutes.
"...... what????"
.... okay, yes, you were more or less manipulating William. You had no conclusive evidence as to whether jim was cheating on you or not. And you had no reason to think that, in all honesty. All you knew is jim had a secret- and if you were correct, William seemed to know about it too.
".... James has been acting weird around me lately. He's not telling me something...." you admitted, examining Williams expression- you noticed him tense up ever so slightly. Aha. So he did know what jim was hiding...
"... I don't know, y/n. Maybe it's not as bad as you think. I've never seen jim allow anyone into his life like he has you..." William replied, staring down at his cup quietly. You slowly nodded, thinking of how you should respond.
"Well if he's not cheating on me, what DO you think he's hiding?? Because I know it's something, he never acts like this unless he's lying to me...." you whimpered quietly, knowing it wasn't really 'kind' to manipulate William when he's already in an emotionally fragile state, but.,, it just.... made it that much easier. Regardless, at your question William cleared his throat, one hand leaving his cup as he subconsciously straightened his tie- which, for the record was already perfectly straight. Just proved that much more William was hiding something from you as well and his mannerisms go to show it.
".... I don't know, y/n. I'm sorry." He replied, you looked at him silently a moment before deciding you had interrogated him enough. He just lost his friend, and his little brother was... inaccessible. .... not to mention his ex was apparently a psychotic yandere biotch. ........... aaaaand his dad was also trying to make his life a living hell.
"....... did you love him?" You ask, looking at William sadly. He seemed to completely tense up once again at knowing you were talking about Ty, looking down as he struggled to keep his face from burning red. He was silent in response, so you mimicked it. Well, he didn't deny it.... still, you felt so bad for him. He had lost far too many people...
".... you make bloody amazing tea. Seriously. An army couldn't rip me away from my main tea supplier." You grinned, hoping to lighten the mood and leave a subtle hint to William that he could always count on you, you weren't going to leave his side. William smiled and looked down once again, an actual, genuine smile. Good. He needed one of those.
William's POV:
It was so bloody hard to lie to you. William actually didn't feel sad at all- you and Ty gave him all the happiness in the bloody world. You were wonderful.
