Jim's POV:

Jim was sitting at his desk on his phone when Alex slid through the door, halting to a stop in front of the desk.

"Jim!!" Alex stated, looking at jim seriously. Jim, raising an eyebrow, expertly read the kid's expression. However, he let Alex talk because he knew he'd get nowhere pointing out what he already knew.

"Yes, Alex?"

"William has a girlfriend."

"Yes, I know."

"... what—?? You do—? How??" Alex asked, drawing his eyebrows together. Jim stood from his desk, calmly brushing his suit off.

".... Willy boy, y/n, and you. All three of you, trying to hide a secret from me, knowing very well one wrong move will give everything away. Three of you amounts to three different people desperately trying not to make a wrong move. See where I'm getting?" Jim hummed simply, hands in his pockets as he stared at the door, lost in thought.

"... oh. ....... okay. ....... um...."

"Yes, I am upset."

"........"

"No, I am not going to kill him."

"Stop doing that!!" Alex snapped frustratedly, glaring at the man. Jim broke out of his thoughts, looking over at the boy- oh yeah. .... don't be a smart ass. ... jim tends to forget some people aren't as quick as he is. And he forgets even quicker that he has to get this kid to like him somehow- luckily, it wasn't so much an...intense hatred anymore. Now they seemed to feel a mutual dislike of each other, and preferably would stay away to avoid conflict.

"...... my apologies." Jim responded, noting Alex stared at him silently a moment before slowly nodding. An apology seemed to go a long way with Alex. It's like he physically couldn't not accept it.

"Anyways. So I assume you've met her, but something must be seriously wrong in order for you to come to me about it." Jim observed, already knowing the answer but.. allowing the kid to talk.

"... something's off about her, she just seems... weird. I don't know. She gives me a bad feeling."

"... I see. Come here." Jim hummed, motioning for Alex to come while leaning over his desk, clicking an icon on his laptop. A screen popped up, showing live footage of William and his girlfriend standing outside the same shop, talking. Hey, Mycroft Holmes wasn't the only one with access to security cameras around town.

Alex drew his eyebrows together, looking at the screen, then at jim.

"How did you—?"

"Look. See how she acts. Every time someone passes by them... what does she do?" Jim asked, looking over at Alex with one eyebrow raised. Alex stared at the screen silently for about a minute, before responding.

"Does she... tense up-?"

"Yes. Once they're a considerable distance away, she calms down again. But she does it every time. Alex, when you feel your 'other side' coming on, what is happening around you?"

".... usually someone's in danger."

"And?"

"..... I want to protect them....?"

"In other words?"

"....... um....." Alex stared at jim, unsure of what he was getting at. Jim sighed, leaning back and closing his eyes a moment to calm down. He can get very frustrated, very easily. It took a lot to not shout the answer at Alex, even though Alex had not done anything wrong.

"You're very possessive, Alex. I've noticed, when your other side wants to come out, you tense up- every time someone makes a threat, or makes any move to hurt someone you care about."

".... but.... you think she's.... like me—?"

"No. William isn't in any danger. Yet she still wants to protect him. I think she's all out insane. Just... very good at hiding it." Jim stated, looking down at the kid as he processed it. Alex was looking at the screen, watching Candace's every move.

"...... no way."

"yes, I'm afraid."

"So... what do we do-?" Alex asks, looking up at jim. Jim shook his head, thinking it over a moment longer.

"We wait. She has not showed any direct signs yet, but she's still attaching herself to William- who knows what will happen. We probably have to tell William as well- he may not believe it, but at least it will prepare him if I am correct." Jim said simply, knowing it would be a rather easy situation to handle- she was a small girl, he could take her out in an instant.

.... as long as William wouldn't make a fuss about it, of course. .... or y/n, for that matter.
