By morning, you opened your eyes to find jim had snuck away. Sighing to yourself, you pulled Alex closer in your arms and focused your attention on him. His eyebrows were drawn together slightly as he slept, he looked sad. You carefully stroked his hair back, pressing your lips lightly to his forehead. You were glad he came to you for help... although you had noticed that since he had Marcus, he didn't express his emotions nearly as much to you. .... which could be either really good, or really bad.
You decided you'd let Alex invite Marcus over today. You didn't think you trusted the kid yet, but the best way to determine how you feel about someone is to spend time with them. Besides, if he ended up being some sort of psychopath... well. You're sure it was nothing you couldn't handle. You were, after all, dating James Moriarty, London(and the universe)'s best consulting criminal. Which... made you question your own sanity slightly, but. Again. ..... nothing you couldn't handle.
Slowly, the young boy beside you began to wake up from whatever dream he was having. His expression relaxed, he looked up at you and smiled happily at seeing you. You kissed his forehead again softly, smiling back at him. The precious kid...
"Hey Alex... do you think you want to have Marcus here today...?" You asked, looking down at him. His eyes brightened immediately and he sat up.
"What—??? Really—-????" He asked, and you nodded. Immediately Alex grinned and tackled you in a hug, extremely grateful that you were letting him. Although you should probably have checked with jim first... but that's alright. He'd find out eventually.
"Thank you thank you thank youuuu y/n!!!" Alex quipped, before hopping out of the bed excitedly. You smiled, just happy to see him look forward to being with someone.
"No problem, Alex. Just let him know we can go pick him up if he needs.." you replied. Alex smiled and nodded, pulling out his phone to text Marcus. As he did, he skip-hopped out of the room. You chuckled to yourself softly, shaking your head lightly as you stood up. He was such a sweet kid... you hoped Marcus wouldn't hurt him.
You got dressed and exited your room, bumping into William on your way down the hall.
"Oh— hey-" you grinned. William shot you a glare, shaking his head.
"...... I hate you."
"Noooooo you don't~"
"......"
"I like her. She's sweet. You two make a really cute couple." You smiled approvingly, William raised an eyebrow slightly, seeming a tad surprised and also.. well. Incredibly embarrassed. But at the same time, William pretty much blushed at any and everything anyone says, so you pretty much expected that.
"...... okay." William replied, looking down uncomfortably. You smiled, taking his arm.
"Hey. Don't worry. I'm not gonna tell jim. In your own time. Just.. keep in mind the longer you hide it, the more upset he may be if he finds out—" you warned, and he nodded immediately.
"... yeh. I know."
"....... but seriously though. Are you sure she's the right— gender—?"
"Y/n I am NOT gay!!!!" William snapped, all embarrassed and blushing again. You laughed, putting your hands up in defence mode.
"Alright, Alright—! Fine—!" You grinned over at him, noting how red and flustered he still seemed to be although he masked it with grumpiness and disapproval.
"... anyways. I told Alex he can have Marcus over today. I'm... not sure how I feel about Marcus yet, so.. just let me know if you see anything.. strange." You stated, William looked over at you, trying to read your expression. Although you could tell that he had seemed to be on the same train of thought that you were, exactly.
".... alright. Perfect. You let me know, as well."
"Of course." You and William were allied against Marcus— well. Not really against him.... just. Against the fact you had no idea if you could trust him.
