Chapter 5

William's POV:

With a shattered heart, William silently washed the blood off his hands from his earlier assignment. Killing anyone brought back memories of Harvey... it felt impossible to get over. He didn't think it would affect him this much; normally William wouldn't have a problem with any of this. ... now it made him... emotional, to say the least.

He silently left Jim's building, hands in his pockets as he stared at the ground. Well, at least he could talk to someone about it. ..... even though he knew he really shouldn't, and if jim found out it would be hell.... and he probably should just end it right now so he doesn't string anyone along in a relationship he would have to back out of eventually...

He pulled out his phone, sending a text to his new lady-friend.

'Hey. You free?'

Your POV:

You caught a glimpse of William as he left the building, looking perturbed. So, dismissing yourself from Jim's side, you went after him. He stopped just outside, pulling out his phone and sending a text. After a few moments, he put his phone in his pocket again, setting off to who knows where. You decided wherever it was, it was probably to see his new 'girlfriend'. You felt bad, but..... you decided to follow him. Curiosity ruled over you, you wanted to know what she was like.

You followed him to a nearby street, just outside a coffee shop. There, he waited. After a few minutes, a girl showed up and squealed, happily jumped on him in a hug. William chuckled, lifting her up and spinning her around once. Your mouth dropped open. He seemed so... happy??? Humane??? Normal???? WEIRD.

She was a petite girl, but looked to be around Williams age, maybe a couple years younger. They seemed to get along well; they were... a pretty cute couple.

You stayed out of sight as they went in the coffee shop; and as always William got a tea- hah, he was so British. Him and her sat across from each other, both of them smiling as they talked. Despite how down William looked beforehand, now he seemed a lot happier... you were so glad.

You desperately wanted to go in and introduce yourself... of course, you'd be crashing willy boy's date—— but.... well. ... you had an evil side to you too, mwahaha. You desperately wanted to meet the new lady-friend~ you had to know if she was right for William, after all.

So... you gave them a few more minutes to be alone together, before you hopped in the building, pretending to be deciding on what to order before 'catching a glance' of them and squealing happily.

"William!! Hey, I didn't expect to see you here, don't you have work??" You asked, happily hopping up to them. William seemed flustered, but immediately caught on to what you were doing, his gaze went cold towards you. You simply grinned at him.

"Oh— who's this-?" The girl asked, you could immediately see her turn kind of possessive over William as she took his hand and leaned slightly closer to him. William shook his head.

"Just... an acquaintance. She's with my boss—"

"Oh— I see- hey, I'm Candace." The girl smiled, waving slightly. She seemed to chill out at knowing you and William were strictly in a mutual friend zone. You smiled, nodding at the girl in response.

"Hey, I'm y/n." You replied, looking at Williams still semi-flustered, embarrassed, and unwelcoming expression.

"So, Candace, you and William are together-?? It's so nice to meet you, I've heard great things!!" You smiled, William looked down and Candace smiled back.

"Awhhh..... yes, we are together..." she smiled over at William, scooching closer to him and leaning against him happily. You nodded, smiling happily for the couple before standing up.

"Alright, well, I better head off now. I have some things to get to, and its starting to get late... I'll see you later. Nice to meet you, Candace-" you smiled, they both waved and you left the building. You wanted to text him, but you were still a bit cross with him for making William hurt someone... you knew William basically grew up doing it, and it was his job and whatnot, but.... still. You genuinely thought you were turning jim into a better person. ...... oh well. .... only time would tell.

..... how the hell were you going to keep it from jim that William had a girlfriend???
