A young girl and boy were walking around accompanied by some other kids their age. At one point, the girl stopped to stare at the small critters in the distance.

"Why do people hate them so much?" She wondered aloud.

Other kids replied, "Because they're dirty of course!"

"But... They haven't done anything wrong..."

"They're ugly! Everyone knows that!" The kids turned to her. "You of all people should know that." And they laughed.

You're a robot.

Why don't they like me?

A monster.

I'm just different.

Not human like the rest of us.

She swallowed before looking up. "... What about you?" A pair of hopeful red eyes met with stoic ones.

After a moment, the boy opened his mouth. "It depends on how each person sees it." He turned to each one of the kids, forcing their laughter to stop. "If someone wasn't able to see that sort of discrimination, then are the rats truly uglier?"

They began to step back as he made his way to the girl. Patting her head, he gave her a reassuring look before turning back to the rest.

"Leave her and never do it again!"
