"Hurt me like I've never been hurt
before." I Hate U, Simon Curtis. Both Eunbi and Umji's parents had come over to visit, Sowon's foster parents didn't show up which came along with a lame excuse. Eunha's father showed up earlier but her mother didn't, which didn't surprise her at all. She always felt that her mother didn't like her very much.
Sowon only had Eunha, yet a day had passed without them talking. Eunha wanted to start a conversation but Sowon never seemed to be in the mood to talk. She thought maybe she did something wrong. Yuju and Yerin stopped by again earlier to bring them food but Sowon still wasn't eating. She even looked sicker today than she did yesterday.
The wounds were healing a lot quicker now that the wolfsbane wasn't still spreading throughout their body, but Sowon's didn't seem to heal at all. It worried her a little but she knew eventually it would start healing.
Unexpectedly that evening the doctor came into the room. He walked past everyone else and went straight to Sowon. Eunbi and Umji kept conversing with their parents since it obviously had nothing to do with them.
"Sowon, would you like to speak with me in the hallway or in here? I think it'd be best to stay in here since you still can't walk properly." The doctor sat on the chair next to her and spoke quietly.
"Here is fine." Sowon replied. Since Eunha had nothing to do she listened to what their conversation was about.
"Well, there is someone here to visit you. I completely understand if you don't want to talk to her, but please think wisely about this, you might never get the chance again." The doctor had known Sowon since she was a kid and he knew everything about her, from being a wolf to how her parents left her.
"Who is it?" She asked.
"You might not notice her because you've never really seen her before but um...your biological mother is here to see you." He suddenly felt a lump in his throat. He was nervous about how Sowon would react but she actually handled it pretty well, but that only lasted a minute.
"Send her in please." Sowon nodded reassuringly. The doctor left the room and sent her mother in. Eunha was even feeling nervous.
When she walked in everyone stopped and looked at her, Yuju and Yerin even got out of their seats to bow to her. Eunha watched as the mother that left her child to die get closer and closer to Sowon.
"Sojung..." She stood at the end of the bed and looked down at her.
"Mrs. Kim." Sowon replied back, she didn't seem fazed at all.
"Shouldn't you be calling me mother?"
"You're no mother to me. A mother wouldn't leave their newborn to die." Eunha knew Sowon was strong but she was still surprised that Sowon's eyes weren't even watering.
"I only did it to save us all. It was for a good reason."
"No it wasn't. You left me as bait so you and dad could get out of there alive. You should go, this wasn't a good idea." Sowon tightened her fist. She could barely look her mother in the eyes without feeling some kind of deep emotion; hatred.
"You're right. My life has been better off without you anyways, I don't know why I came here." Those were her mother's last words before leaving.
As she opened the door Sowon used all her strength to get off the bed. She bit down on her tongue to subside the pain she was feeling in her thigh. She limped towards the door and was about to open it when she felt a hand grab her wrist.
"What are you doing?" Eunha asked.
"Get away from me!" Sowon pushed her to the floor and opened the door. She began limping faster when she saw how far away her mother was.
The doctors noticed her and tried to get her back to her room but Sowon was determined. She forced every doctor off of her and kept limping towards her mother.
"You're dead to me." Sowon mumbled a few feet away from her mother. Eunha kept trying to stop her but she was repeatedly pushed to the floor.
"I knew you'd comeback. You can't live without me, can you?" Her mother turned around and smirked.
"No, I can't live knowing you're happy." Sowon grabbed a scalpel off the nearest tray and jumped onto her mother, bringing them both down onto the floor.
"Get this crazy bitch off me!" She yelled at the doctors. She used all her strength to push Sowon's hand away so the scalpel didn't stab her.
"Go to hell! I'll kill you! I'll kill you both!" Sowon stabbed her mother in the leg and kept twisting it.
She was about to slit her mother's throat until a doctor injected her with a needle. She suddenly felt drowsy and fell right to sleep. The doctors picked her up and brought her back to the bed she was previously on. Eunha stared at her mother with a deadly glare for a few seconds before going back to the room.
When she came back into the room Sowon was being covered up so she wouldn't get cold next to the opened window. Eunha could only pray that her mother wouldn't press charges.
"What happened?" Yuju asked.
"She tried to kill her mother. She was almost successful." Eunha sat back on the bed. Her leg was hurting even more now.
"She's scary." Yerin said.
"She also will always take care of you no matter what if she loves you, Eunha last night would be an example." Yuju replied to Yerin's dumb but true comment.
"What happened last night that I don't know about? Wasn't I the one who saved her? I took another bullet." Eunha didn't understand what they were talking about.
"Well, you saved her but then she saved you. You don't remember?"
"I remember her fingers being slippery so she had trouble getting the bullet out, that's it."
"Should we tell her? It's kinda gross." Yuju looked at Yerin for permission.
"So we walked in and thought she was eating you but we were so wrong. Anyways, since her fingers were too slippery she used her teeth to get the bullet out. She even kept swallowing your blood because she thought spitting it out was a waste of time and because you were just gonna get more blood in her mouth, gross, right? There's also a hole in your leg because her teeth went down so deep into your skin. She's also in a worse condition because she was too focused on getting the bullets out of you that she forgot to take the bullet out of her own thigh. Great story, ain't it? We should write a book about it and get famous." Yuju loved her idea but Yerin and Eunha ignored her. Yerin was busy showing Eunha the small hole in her leg.
"Ew! I can see a small part of my finger through it!" Eunha looked away from the disgusting hole.
She began to rethink about her thoughts last night. Sowon always put Eunha in danger, but she always saved her in the end. Her mother wasn't right but she wasn't wrong. It was left for Eunha to figure it out.
