I'm currently in an important meeting when I felt my phone ringing.
I ignored it and keep listening to the person in front of me. The ringing won't stop but I choose to keep ignoring it.
I bet whatever the call for, it can wait. This meeting is very important we can't lose a deal.
Nagulat ako nang makarinig ako nang katok at pumasok dun ang sekretarya ko. Halos lahat ay napalingon sa kanya, the person even stopped talking.
"Continue" I motioned, so he did. Saka kunot noo kong nilingon ang sekretary ko nang makalapit sa akin.
"What is it?" I silently asked.
"Madam Alea is calling, sir." he answered. Lalong kumot noo ko, why mom is calling? Siya siguro ung tumatawag sa akin kanina.
"I told you not to disturb me. Tell mom, I'm in an important meeting. Tell her, I will call her back when I'm done." madiin kong utos
Parang nagdadalawang isip pa ito at hindi alam ang gagawin. I know mom, maybe she pressured my secretary to bugged me.
"Sabi po kasi ni Madam Alea it's important Very important." stressing the last words.
"I think it can wait, Marites." sagot ko sa sekretarya ko. I don't know but something is pushing me to answer my mom's call.
I took a deep breathe.
"Ok. I'll go."
Tumingin ako sa taong nasa loob ng board meeting. "Excuse everyone, I'll just answer an important call and I will back in flash." I looked at my employee in the front. "Jake, you may continue." saka ako lumabas ng board meeting.
I just walked in my secretary's table to answer the call pag pumunta pa ko sa loob ng office ko baka matagalan pa ko.
"Mom." I simply greeted as I answered the phone.
"Renz! We've been calling you. You're not answering your phone." bakas ang pagmamadali sa boses ni mommy.
"I'm in an important meeting mom. Can't this wait?" I asked in hurry.
"No. Of course not." sagot naman nito, why can't my mom just tell me what she need.
"What is it mom?"
"Nanganganak na si Apple." Nanlaki ang mga mata ko. What?
"Aren't she supposed to labor two weeks from now?" We already checked about this one. Balak na nga namin mag stay one week in Batangas for her labor.
"That's why we need to hurry in the hospital. We're already on our way." Damn it! Baka mapano ang mag-ina ka.
"Susunod ako." Dali dali kong binaba ang tawag. Napalingon naman sa akin si Marites.
"Cancel all my meetings for the week." Gulat ang bumakas sa muka nito habang sumunod sa akin pabalik sa board meeting.
Everyone looked back at me when I entered the board meeting.
"My wife is in labor. Meeting adjourned." Then I exit the board meeting.
I don't care if I lose that deal. I don't care if I lose billion on that.
All I think about is to be with Apple during her labor with our baby, this is much very important than anything else.
Sunod sunod ang malakas na pagbusina ko sa mga sasakyan sa daan.
