And then there was the last one. The last one standing. They surrounded him, and unleashed their attack. He dropped to the ground dead.
Zelda panted heavily. The knife had slipped out of her chest, and with the added injuries, she had never felt so dizzy and tired. And dead.
But. Still, she stood on the fountain in the middle of Castle Town and raised her rapier to the sky.
"WE WON!"
The people shouted, cried, laughed, and celebrated. Zelda smiled slightly, before everything in her gave out, finally. Link noticed, and rushed to her before the fell face flat on the tiles. The others were right behind him.
"Zelda, hey, hey, get up," Link whispered, turning her around in his arms so she faced him. Her chest was bleeding badly, and she was already starting to look dead. She was barely breathing, yet gasping for air. He gasped.
Fuck this shit.
Fuck me pushing her away.
Fuck me being an asshole to her.
I need to save her.
"Zel?" Pit called.
"WE NEED MEDICAL ASSISTANCE, STAT!" Link yelled. The soldiers stopped celebrating and ran over to Link, then guided him to the medical wing of the castle. Samus slammed the door open and grabbed a short doctor sitting in his desk by the collar. Tears were threatening to fall from her eyes.
"Save her!" She hissed. Link placed her down gently on one of the beds. The doctor shook Samus off and stepped up to Zelda. He quickly hooked her up to an IV and oxygen.
"Help her, please," Link begged.
"I will do my best. I need all of you to step away, please," the doctor said. They did as he said quickly. The doctor starting cleaning off the stitching up her wounds, including the large one on her chest. By the time he was done, she was in a hospital gown and all cleaned up. They noticed that her chest seemed red and very irritated.
"What happened to her chest?" Palutena asked.
"It seems the knife was poisoned. It didn't go deep enough to damage vital organs, but obviously enough to get into her bloodstream," the doc said. "I've already called for help. The poison seems to be a mix of that of a Deku Baba and a Gold Skulltula combined, which can prove to be very deadly. If help doesn't get here soon enough, I'm afraid to say we may lose her."
"Well don't you have a solution for this? A cure or something?!" Roy asked.
"I'm afraid not. The only person who does is-"
"I'm here!" A red Zora with a whole bunch of jewelry rushed in. She quickly sidestepped up to Zelda's IV, took one out of the one she was carrying, and switched them both. "That should do it! The poison should stop spreading through her body in a few minutes, but full recovery won't be until a few hours."
"Ah, who are you exactly?" Link asked.
The Zora blushed. "My name is Mipha, from Zora's Domain. I'm sorry, but I must leave, I have a whole town to guide back to it's city safely! Tell me when she awakes."
"Thank you Mipha," Link said. Mipha gave him a smile before walking out. He looked back down at Zelda. She was so pale, it started to scare him.
"She's gonna be okay, right?" Pit asked.
