It was quite fun, playing Sabacc and even Pazaak. Elena, Leo, and Mack caught on rather quickly, and we spent hours playing, forgetting the time. The next day, Jeffrey had arranged a formal recognition for Daisy as well as a formal welcoming back to Kina, Hilna, Areria, Ahsoka, and me. Jeffrey was currently standing at the podium while Talbot and Burrows stood off to one side, and while Daisy, Kina, Hilna, Areria, Ahsoka, and I stood off to the other side. Meanwhile Mack and Phil were patrolling the premises for Jeffrey's safety.
"A true hero's not in it for the glory. Some seek out justice in the face of danger even if it means living life in the shadows. But I'm proud to announce that Daisy Johnson, one of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s most dedicated agents, can finally step into the spotlight and get the recognition she deserves." Jeffrey announced followed by applauds and cheers from the crowd.
"During her time undercover, she risked her life to protect everyday citizens. When Watchdogs targeted the Edison Bridge, Agent Johnson held off the collapse until everyone was evacuated." Jeffrey continued. "Now, she fled to protect her cover, but today, we finally get to say...thank you."
The crowd then cheered and applauded again. Jeffrey then continued once the noise died down. "And we're also here to welcome back the Avengers and our agents: Agents Kina Ha, Hilna Unduli, and Storm Ca'ana...and to welcome our new agents: Agents Areria Skikea and Ahsoka Tano."
The crowd applauded once again, causing me to smile and wave at the crowd.
"Right now, I would like to invite Sunbury's own Michelle Caldwell up to tell the story in her own words." Jeffrey concluded before stepping down from the podium.
I glanced over to see Daisy looking really uncomfortable. I placed a hand on her shoulder before whispering. "Relax, it's an excited crowd that's cheering you on, not a angry mob."
Daisy cracked a small smile. "I know, I just prefer not being the center of attention."
"Well, you today you deserve it." I replied.
We then listened to Caldwell's story. "Thank you, Director Mace. It's hard to remember details from that night, but three things stand out clearly... fire, falling... and Agent Johnson saving my life. I was heading home on the Edison Bridge... My son still has his mother, thanks to Agent Johnson. Thank you. Thank you so much."
Once Caldwell finished her story, she then hugged Daisy, surprising her. "Oh."
The crowd broke out in applauds and cheers, however it was short-lived as we saw someone on the roof near us. My eyes widened. "Sniper!"
"Get down!" Daisy ordered.
We all crouched down, staying away from harm. The sniper then shot the podium, which Jeffrey tossed into the air with ease. "Stand clear!"
In just a matter of seconds, the podium exploded, sending the bits and pieces all over the place. The crowd panicked as they ran all over the place.
"I've got eyes on the shooter." Daisy informed us as she ran off.
"I've got your back." Kina offered.
"Ahsoka, go with Kina." I urged. "Hilna and I will help escort the Director to the safe house."
Ahsoka nodded. "Sounds like a plan."
As soon as Ahsoka took off, Phil and Mack then approached us.
"Sir, we need to get you to a safe house." Phil urged.
"We have a Quinjet standing by." Mack stated.
"Lead the way. Burrows, with me." Jeffrey ordered.
We quickly got in the Quinjet where the agent named McCafferty flew the Quinjet. I glanced over at Burrows, seeing that same exact briefcase as before. Whenever Burrows has that silver case, Jeffrey's always around...which is quiet strange if you ask me. Mack shook his head. "Doesn't make any sense. We had agents all over the place, not to mention two Inhumans. Who would send a sniper in there and think they could get away with it?"
