Not too longer after that discussion, Daisy, Piecor, and Deke came to inform us what happened in the storage room, and that they encountered a Kree in the pantry room. That made me worry very much. I didn't like what was happening.
"It's our fears come to life." Leo said.
"What the hell are you talking about, Fitz?" May asked.
Kina crossed her arms. "Yeah. What fear?"
"I'm still trying to piece it all together. But here. Watch this." Leo urged before showing us a video. "It's low-res, but it's all I could salvage from one of the Dwarfs."
We saw a picture of a creature with gray skin. May looked horrified. "This can't be."
"Who's that?" I asked.
"That's Lash, the Inhuman who we told you about. He was Andrew Garner..." Phil explained.
"My ex-husband." May added.
"Oh..." Kina and I said, understanding right away who she was speaking of.
Phil then turned towards Leo. "Fitz?"
"I think that when the monoliths exploded, they tore open something that I can only describe as a fear dimension. And it's leaking out." Leo elaborated. He then returned to the picture of the rift. "See these emissions here?"
"What do you think that is?" Piecor asked.
"I don't know uh, alien energy. The Dwarf went offline before I could analyze it. But whatever it is, it seems that it can reach inside our minds." Leo informed us.
"Yeah, well, it can do more than that. That Kree almost killed Deke." Daisy commented.
Leo nodded. "Yeah, and I don't understand how, but it seems that this dimension can take our deepest fears and it can manifest them physically."
I looked over at Piecor, who had trouble trying to mask his feelings. I placed a hand on his shoulder. He was always trying to remain strong and brave even when others didn't.
"So, Kree warrior. Check." Daisy said.
"And if that is Lash, double check." May added.
I raised an eyebrow. "Okay, then what about that forest on Level 27?"
"You mean an overwhelming collection of branchy things with birds and bugs and the floor all covered in worms? Are you kidding? That's...That's a horror show." Deke confessed.
We all looked at Deke, rather baffled. Kina shook her head. "You're a sad man, you know that?"
"Well I'm sorry I grew up in a place where there was no outside." Deke retorted with a huff.
"Okay...triple check." Daisy said.
"I'm gonna seal off the lower 2/3 of the Lighthouse. That's where the bulk of the phenomena is occurring, but it's flaring out." Leo elaborated. "The fact that it's reached Level 27 as well as the supply pantry tells me it's getting worse."
"So, how do we stop it?" May asked.
Leo sighed. "Okay. I have a potential fix, but I don't know how to do it without one of us possibly sacrificing ourselves."
We all remained silent, looking at one another, not knowing what to do. Finally Leo spoke up. "Okay...Deke."
Deke violently shook his head. "Oh no. Me? No, no. Hell, no. No, I just got here. I just got to a world that's got ice cream, and the sun, and orange-scented stuff. So no. No, no, no. And in case any of you forgot, I already did the heroic sacrifice thing to get you all here. So, I-I'm...I'm done."
