A Turtle's Life

A New Friend

A few class periods have passed and it was almost time for lunch. Leo was currently wandering around the school since he had a free period at the moment.

Leo: "My first day here is going good so far and everyone here seems nice". 'Despite the the fact that I was the only mutant in one of my classes'.

Suddenly, he heard what sounded like a fight going on and decided to investigate. He looked down hall only to see a girl getting picked on by a boy.

???: *crying* "Please...just leave me alone...I've already suffered through enough".

???: *laughing evilly* "Are you crying...wow, you really are pathetic Sunset". "Its hard to believe that everyone was afraid of you back then, now you're just a weakling who doesn't even have the guts to stand up for herself".

Leo: 'So that's Sunset Shimmer'.

???: "FACE IT, you're nothing but a loser who will never have any friends".

With that being said, the boy punched Sunset in the stomach and pushed her back to make her hit the wall. The boy walked away with a smirk on his face, leaving Sunset to cry on the floor.

Leo was completely shocked by what had just happened. He was extremely angry at what that boy did and felt like punching him to teach him a lesson. However, he knew by doing that would end badly, so he decided to help Sunset.

Sunset: *crying* 'Why me...why does it have to be me'?

Leo: *puts a hand on her shoulder* "Hey, are you ok"?

Sunset looked up to see a mutant turtle wearing a blue mask, but she backed away from him thinking that he was going to hurt her.

Leo: "Its ok...I promise that I won't hurt you". "I just want to help you".

Sunset: *surprized* "Y...you actually want to help me"? 'No one has ever offered to help me before besides Fluttershy and her friends'.

(Fluttershy is the only friend that Sunset has, and is only one of three other students that gave her a second chance when she had decided to change her ways.)

Sunset was hesitant at first, but decide to accept Leo's offer, and the two of them walked to the nurse's office. While they were walking, Leo had noticed Sunset had several bruises on her arms, which meant that she was hurt a lot worse he had originally thought.

After visiting the nurse's office, Leo decided to take Sunset to get some fresh air and hopefully find a way to cheer her up.

Sunset: *staying silent*

Leo: 'Awkward' "So...um......how are you feeling"?

Sunset: "I feel like a total wreck".

Leo: "oh.....".

Sunset: *smiles* "Thanks for helping by the way". "Not very many do that".

Leo: "No problem"

There was another awkward silence before Sunset decided to break awkwardness.

Sunset: "By the way...I didn't get the chance to know your name".

Leo: "Oh...sorry, I'm Leonardo, but you can just call me Leo".

Sunset: *surprised* "Wait...Leo"? "As in Fluttershy's brother".

Leo: *surprized* "Um...yeah, how did you know"?

Sunset: "She talks a lot about you".

Leo: 'Did she talk about me infront of the whole school'? "What did she say about me"?

Sunset: "She said that you are a brave, strong, smart, and cute turtle".

Leo: *confused* "Fluttershy said I was cute"?

Sunset: *smirks* "Well...maybe not the last one".

Leo: *smirks* "Well I guess you're pretty cute to".

Sunset: *blushes* "W...what"

Leo: *smirks* "GOTCHA"

Sunset: "Why you..." *playfully punches his arm*

Both: *laughing*

Sunset: "You know, its actually nice to be able to laugh about something again".

Leo: "What do you mean"?

Sunset: "I haven't exactly had anything to laugh about in a long time". "Almost everyone treats me badly because of how I was back then".

Leo could tell that she didn't to talk about her past so he decided it was best to not push her into doing it.

Sunset: "It has been happening for so long, I've started to believe that I'm nothing but a weakling".

Leo was completely shocked by what she said, how could Sunset even think that about herself.

Leo: "You are not a weakling Sunset".

Sunset: "How do you know that"?

Leo: "Because I can tell that you are a strong and smart person, and that you have a good heart". "You may not think it is true, but you are much stronger than you think you are".

Sunset: *smiles* "Thank you Leo, I needed that".

Leo: "You're welcome Sunset, and you know what...i think this could be the start of a new friendship".

Sunset: "I think so to Leo". 'Now I see why Fluttershy talks about him so much'.
