I was told when
To read the Bible and pray:
Anytime but night
Because they're sure I'll fall asleep,
But I don't fall asleep
When I'm talking to myself
Or listening to overwhelming thoughts,
So I figured I'd replace
My time of self destruction
With something much more pleasant.
Now I spend time with God,
Instead of with myself.
They said do it in the morning
To start my day with God,
But what I think before sleep
Seeps into my dreams,
Which change how I wake up,
And now sleep's a bit more peaceful,
And I wake up a little less sick
Because this time works for me,
Creating a shield
That wraps around my heart,
And I am protected.
