My teddy bear
Smells like home
Feels like memories
Wrapped in fur
Worn and torn
By all the years of pain
He's stayed with me.
My pigtails
Still swing sweetly
Sometimes invisible
But always there
To me
Attempted innocence
Pinned up precariously
Precisely lopsided.
My marshmallows
Fluffy and light
Melting on my tongue
Sticky on my fingers
Pastel pieces of cloud
Taste like youth.
You may be thinking
This is some grand
Metaphor of life
But no
It's just me
Being a little girl
Once more
With a teddy bear
Pigtails
And marshmallows.
