Tokyo, Year 2045

"Oneechan, get up" Techi whispered softly into Rina's ear

"Eh Techi? What's going on?" Rina asked confused about the entire situation

"Someone's outside, go pack the important stuff, hurry" Techi whispered again and stood beside the door with a small knife in her hands

Uemura Rina and Hirate Yurina are sisters but not biologically, they were originally neighbours but when war broke out and killed their parents, Rina took it upon her to keep Yurina safe from harm and alive for the past 6 years.

"OPEN UP! I KNOW THERES SOMEONE IN THERE! OPEN UP NOW BEFORE I BLAST THE DOOR OPEN!" shouting came from the door and that made Techi more tense as she glance occasionally to the bedroom waiting for Rina.

"Done" Rina whispered over as she showed as okay sign and Techi ran over to her as they go towards the window at the back of their home.

They lived at the 3rd storey of their buliding and have already gotten used to escaping from the window from all the robbers trying to rob their place. In the year of 2045, everyone is desperate to live and that cause everyone to go into stealing and robbing and the only way people are able to continue living is to join the military and choose to fight but the people also know joining the military would also means death without any skills hence resulting in the amount of stealing and robbing there.

"Where are we suppose to go now Techi?" Rina asked as Techi led the way.

"No idea" that was all Techi replied but without looking back at Rina.

After turning 16, Techi learn the harsh way of living and also taken up the task of protecting Rina instead as Rina health wasn't good to begin with.

"Hey kid!" That voice startled both of them as they look toward the source of where the voice came from and saw an army personel standing there.

"Yes sir? How may i help you" Techi immediately push Rina behind her back as she spoke to the officer.

"It's dangerous for 2 young ladies to be outside, why are you here" the officer asked, from the look of it the officer didn't seems to be a bad person hence making Techi relax a little but still keeping herself alert

"There was robbers outside our place earlier, we came out to hide for a little while. We will go back later" Techi answered truthfully as her sense told her she could trust that officer

"Whats your name and how old are you?" The officer asked

"Hirate Yurina, 17 years old" Techi answered

"What about her?" The officer pointed at Rina

"She's my sister. Uemura Rina, 20 years old"

"Biological?" The officer asked with brow raised

"No, she took me in when i was left alone. How do i address you officer?" Techi asked with respect

"Just call me Ryo, do you guys want to live with me?" Ryo suddenly asked

"Eh?" The girls asked confused

"Don't worry i'm not a bad guy, i lost my family when the war started and now i am living alone. I am one of the commander in the nearby camp, i won't be in the house most of the time." Ryo explained

"Won't it be too much sir? You just met us"

"You two remind me of my daughters who died several years ago, how about letting me take care of you two from now?" Ryo asked sincerely

Techi turned to look at Rina who shared the same look with her and nodded slightly with each other. They knew this is the only chance they could continue to live considering that their place have been a common place for theft and robbers for the past month.

"We will be in your care now sir" Techi said and bowed

"Call me Ryo would be fine. Come, follow me" Ryo said and led the way

The place of a commander is huge, although commanders are in camp most of the time but their place are always guarded by soldiers hence not worrying about the safety in that area.

Although there are servers in the house always there to help them but the sisters always choose to rely on themselve instead as they are used to it.

Living at Ryo's place for a few months, Techi decided that she doesn't want to live off Ryo and want to do something to help

"Ryo!" Techi called out before Ryo leave the house

"Yurina? Why?"

"Can i join the army?" Techi asked seriously

"Why?" Ryo asked back

"I want to do something to help, we can't be living off you forever"

"You have a duty here is to take care of Rina, you are not living off me, you guys are my family, you two gave my house warmth and i'm grateful that i have someone to welcome me when i reach home everyday" Ryo said as he held onto her shoulders

"Okay but can i learn how to fight instead?" Techi asked

"Fight?" Ryo asked back confused

"I have the duty to take care of Rina, if in the future anything happen at least i know what to do isn't it?" Techi answered back with determination

"I understand, tomorrow onwards wake up early and follow me to the camp, i will train you with my soldiers but be prepared for a very harsh training okay?" Ryo said sternly

"Okay! Thank you -" Techi thought for awhile and softly whispered "papa"

Ryo immediately teared up as he heard what Techi called him and immediately hugged her

"Thank you Yurina" Ryo said and left the place

"Oneechan!" Techi shouted as she ran up to find Rina reading a book

"Why Techi?" Rina ask as she roll over to face Techi

"Ryo agreed to let me train with them" Techi said excitedly

"Eh? Train with them?" Rina confusedly ask

"Yes with the soldier!" Techi smile widely

"So happy eh? Remember to take care of yourself alright?" Rina told Techi

"Hai!"

After that day Techi follow Ryo to the camp everyday to train with the soldiers. She learnt very fast that the regular soldiers was really impress with her

"Ryo san, thats your daughter?" The 2nd in command asked as they watch Techi practice her shooting and it was really very good for someone who just started training a month ago

"I guess you can call her that, i found her on the streets a few months ago and i knew i had to take her in. The look in her eyes was deperate and her will to live was really strong and i knew that this girl is a fighter" Ryo smiled as he look at her

Training continued for months and years and Ryo have asked her to help train new soldier with her ability. Ryo told her that he would never let her be on the battlefield but she can help by making sure new recruits are performing well so they could help. He also reminded her that her main duty was to take care of Rina and to repay Rina for taking care of her and Techi promised that she will make sure Rina is okay even if it cost her life and Ryo was really proud of her.

Years past and Techi kept her promise to Ryo for both helping in training for new recruits and taking care of Rina. Now at the age of 24, Techi holds a position as a training commander in Ryo's main camp. Everyone in camp admire at how a girl could be that tough but they didn't know that she survived harsher living enviroment in the past hence resulting in such fighting spirit in her.

This is the first time i write this kind of fics so please do give me some comments about it. I wanted to end it in a sad ending but then i've decided not to 🤷‍♀️
