Paddock After Rain:
To you dear paddock after the rain
When the sky aluminates orange
And the trees shiver drops
When the open spaces clear me time and time again
Yellow soaked grass blended green
Red wet soil sparks atomic tangerine
Empty road beyond barbed wire fence echo's
As a lone car cruises by after the storm
Rabbits dart in the paddocks shallows
The field so clean, so reborn
My muddy toes curled into blue
Wrought iron gate
Creaking on wooden fence posts
This is enough.
Breathe deep and breathe long,
The paddocks beckon you to come undone.
Beyond the forest is an empty train track
Where it goes I do not know
But this little part of the world
Is home.
Paddock after rain,
with the skies splitting pink, purple and haze
Sundown crawls closer
This will always be home
This will always be my composure.
