Sky Fades In Ideas Of You

I really truly do

Like the idea of you

When the weather's warm and the air smells like salt

I hope I get to sit beside you and find no fault

In the idea I've grown to form

The thoughts accumulated to a person I hardly know

Tell me your favourite songs and favourite hero's

Let me listen to your stories and the moments of lows

I'll tell you how happy the summer makes me

If you'll tell me your favourite memories

I really do truly like the idea of you

Or at least the one I think I've formed to push through

Old ideas of how anything should feel

I'm stupidly giddy at the thought of being able to kneel

And not feeling like I'm being challenged by someone miles above

Because I've raided my past and found only muck

In relation to uneven power struggles that never make sense

But you're too good to be anything but defence

I hardly think your smiles and warmth are any cause for concern

Which in return

Makes my stupid grin all the more giddy in the idea

Of sitting at the beach and feeling what it is these people preach

Would it be too much to ask too soon

If I asked you to let me listen to the tune

Of your favourite song beside you? Would that be weird?

I'm new to the idea of feeling warm without it being smeared

With the wrong notions and ideas

I'm unsure how to act unlike a giggling high school fool without

Acting something deeper that only causes fears.

In amongst my confusion is no confusion at all

As simple as the matter that I think I like someone I've never known

But all I want is the chance to know where you've grown

What you call home

Who you know, the places you go

It's as simple as that with as many complications as can be

I really truly do like the notion of seeing

The curious fool you bring out in me.

I just want to hang out, that's all I ask

Because maybe we look at the beach the same way

And I'd sit there while the sky fades

If you just needed someone to listen.
