Wrapped Up In Playlists Again
Watch me spell out my words in songs
Backwards to front in titles you've never heard
For once his playlist won't swallow the room whole
Because I've learnt to make my own rolls
Of mixtape to tear out the sound system when I'm out and down
Sprawled on the lounge room floor
Listening for a sign in the music, I implore
The lyrics back to front
Fighting to find hidden meanings in melodies I love
I want to find answers through the questions of playlists
A crazy thing to search for when it might not exist
I'm wrapped up in my own music again
Thinking it will replace the emotions I'm too afraid to say
And maybe it will and maybe it won't
Desperation layered in harmonies covered in hope
I'm wrapped up in playlists again
Forgetting to just enjoy the tune
Always fighting for a plethora of reasons to get you
To listen to what I think is the sound of me
Always trying to get people to listen to the things we can't see
Would you try and listen to me,
If I wanted to listen to you?
Let's swap mixtape's like they did in '92.
Because I'm wrapped up in playlists again.
