Rain Drop Tin Roof
Rain drop on tin roof
Hopeful rain makes the fool
Foolish as I hoping to catch a drop
In the palm of my hand where another once was
How quiet dew drops shiver through
An open field with open notions of you
Smoke rises on the horizon
A glimpse of grey cloud breaks in to
Pieces of a discarded mind hoping,
Hopeful rain makes the fool.
Bramble branch sway in chilled breeze
Do you think maybe with a sky this grey
He'll think of me?
Earth reeks of dirt, woody scent driven home
Mud prints in your boots from the places you know
Wire fences sing in the rain
Gum leaves against a backdrop of hills where hope was made
Hopeful rain makes the fool.
Rain drop on tin roof
Hopeful rain makes the fool.
