Prisoner Set By Bitterness/Freedom Set By Live & Forget:
A prisoner of my own doing set by chains I made
Bound in bitterness wrapping the parts I found
Too dirty to just dust clean
Months and months of scrubbing made to be set free
Pouring dirty bucket water down a hollow drain
Let it swirl, let the water bubble
Scrub away at the messes you made
And the ones you didn't but still need to clean
We're only prisoners of the creation of our own troubles
I scrubbed at the walls so long I think my skin began to bleed
And when it peeled back what was underneath
Was finally fucking clean. Finally unseen.
Not to think it won't get dirty again,
But this time, it's for me.
Long hard look in the mirror to practice what I preach,
Sparkling skin next to a dirty sheet
A pile of memories waiting to be set alight
Pour your dirty water out from your heart.
Break the constrictions set by your own indifference
Crack the chains and learn to let go
You'll only walk free away from the more that you know
A prisoner made from your own bitterness
A free woman is allowed to roam
Walk away with your freshly clean skin because tomorrow holds
A future empty of barred windows and four roomed walls
Only open spaces to commemorate the clean soul.
A prisoner set by bitterness.
Freedom given to me by living to forget.
