How It Might Be/The Way I Want To See
I'm hoping, the future or what might come soon
Will be the way I envisioned it in the dark of my room
When I made plans to live a life made pure
Determined to scrub myself clean of my of the girl who would chew her
Chances out with venom and spit them back up
Scared of having lighter hands and lighter touch
How it might be I'm hoping, is soft days of sunlight in warmth
I want to be able to make people feel at home
I want to make hospital beds and straighten the sheets
And give little girls hope and stay up when they can't sleep
And I want to send people home safe even when I'm tired and aching
I want to make sure these people are healthy and able for taking
The lives they deserve.
I might not be doing much, I might not be of importance at all
But I want to be kind in a place that smells like sadness
Too many times have I seen the empty in a place that needs flowers
How my future might be, as a nurse, grown in the woman I can see
I hope it is warm and it is kind and full of strength and smiles
I hope I can straighten my shoulders even when I'm tired
I'm hoping, the future or what might come soon
Will be the way I envisioned it in the dark of my room
When I made plans to live a life made pure
