The Way Songs Feel:
I'm ready,
I'm ready to feel
I've been waiting night after night
Until
It felt like I could swallow his presence in the room
And funnily enough he did it himself.
With a clean slate and a lighter heart
That I haven't felt in years
I'm almost terrified to have the chance to start
To feel anything real that isn't for him.
To feel myself glow again after being dim
For so damn long I thought that was me.
But me doesn't have to be the stand alone tragedy I see
When everyone crosses glances and I return
To my empty bed in the pent house suite
Of my one shot mind.
I'm ready,
I'm ready to feel again.
Because for the first time in a handful of years
Not loving him is not on the list of my fears
I don't just want someone to look at me
The way the beach looks at sunset
I want to look back at them and see
The sound of every single song
I've heard.
I'm waiting for the chance to hear that song,
And by God am I going to fucking take it.
