Candles Are Quiet Tonight:
The candle light is quiet tonight
Tonight's a night for crying
For cotton mouthed expressions that won't overflow
As emotional turbulence wins the losing fight
Tonight's a night for the ghosts in the walls, candle light dying
For remembering a melancholy with nostalgia taste
For sitting in a quiet room of stars and words
For questioning every little moment that makes up a fate
For quietly looking at the wounds that still hurt
Because some things don't ever heal over even if they scar up
And it'll all be okay but just tonight
Just tonight, in the quiet it's okay to be assured that it's all fucked
And in the yellow low light I just might
Dig a little deeper with two hands into my soul
And spread the photos out on the floor
And watch the sun come up again
Because the candles are quiet tonight.
I am alone, in readiness or in doubt,
I am alone to breathe at the wounds that need to be looked at in the dark.
The candles are quiet tonight.
