When They Look At Me:
When they look at me
Those people on the street
Those people in the crowds
In the house party yards, we shout
I want them to look up and see me dancing on table tops
I want them to hear Saturday Night's Alright
(For Fighting)
And I don't mean the kind of soul leeching parties
Where the girls wear buns and the boys listen to Drake
I'm talking about looking at me on the nights starting
With tequila chasers and mistakes we don't regret to make
I want them to look up and see me dancing on table tops
I want them to hear Saturday Night's Alright
(For Fighting)
As we celebrate the past
Stomp together so hard
In unison that we shake the neighbours yard
And sing our slicked throats raw to the classics of art
Like Elton John and Queen
And go wild while the band screams
I'm talking boots and skirts
And knees covered in dirt
I'm talking warm laughter bubbling over whiskey on the rocks
The nights that make you the good kind of crazy that don't stop.
I want them to see me in all my youth,
brown hair, brown eyes, wild and overloading people in the boot
When they look at me
I want them to hear Saturday Night's Alright
(For Fighting)
And maybe, just maybe,
A boy on one of those spectacular night's made alright
Will see me wild and my toes will tingle and my chest will scream
And the love of my life
Will hear that song play
And he'll push through our dancing crowd to say
'Do you wanna dance?'
And he won't try to change
A single part of me.
Because he'll be too busy listening to
That song scream
Every time he looks at me.
