Human Kindness Can Be Astonishing:
I'm always drawn to the ones with trauma in their hearts
But eyes so clear they could start
An accumulated mass in your own thinking
Wondering what makes them tick if they're still breathing
After suffering the tragedy of life
My curiosity comes in the form of admiration and the form to find
What it is that's in the dark parts no one looks
I want to be the one who sees for whatever fucked up reason, that's shook
The foundation of my core
My need to seek out the troubled with fiery eyes
Something stronger than perhaps I
With their ability to let the sun still crack skin
After trauma dealt to pale skin it was birthed in
The power of man astonishes me so
And the ability to hold on to pain or let go
Human kindness can be astonishing to the point where I must know
What it is in these people that have deemed them worthy
Of a strength I admire so
Because the best kind of people are those
With the worst pain in their hearts who still let the world know
That they are standing after being told no
Those are the kind of people I love
The broken and trodden who still smile like the sun
Because those are the kinds of people who deserve the most love
Human kindness can be astonishing
And I want to be the one watching
The graces of those sunlight cracks wash over them
Because they deserve more than anyone to feel and I will be watching then
The astonishing weight of human kindness.
