The wedding ceremony was perfect, but Elizabeth's emotions caught up with her at the reception. 100 people was too many people — many of whom she didn't know at all. There were too many conversations to have at once. And she was pregnant. Fuck.
She wasn't ready. Ivy and Reilly deserved more of her and Christian's undivided time and attention before bringing another baby into their home. And, deep down, she never wanted a third baby.
There was a point in time where she wasn't even sure she wanted to be a mom at all. She had her work and Christian and two perfect babes. How could she possibly handle more?
She couldn't.
"Are you okay, my beautiful wife?" Christian whispered into her ear at their sweetheart table while the pair enjoyed their dinner together. She appreciated the brief moment of seclusion. Sometimes small talk and hugging strangers overwhelmed her. Add an unexpected pregnancy to the mix, and it was hard to breathe.
"Yes," she said softly. She realized her hand was resting on her tummy and quickly moved it away and grabbed his hand instead. She didn't want him to notice anything off. Now wasn't the time to reveal her secret. "Perfect." She smiled at him and kissed his cheek.
Her eyes scanned the room while she tried to keep her salad down. It wasn't sitting well, and she was pretty positive she was done eating for the evening.
And that's when Ellie saw her. She recognized the woman immediately as one of the models who sent Christian a DM shortly after she posted their baby announcement. "Christian, do you know that woman?" She had said such cruel things about her. Why was she here?
Christian's jaw practically dropped to the floor when he saw Martá. "Yeah, I'm sorry . . . She wasn't invited."
"Have you slept with that woman?" she asked quietly, her voice shakier than she wanted it to be.
"I'm so sorry, Elizabeth. I'll make sure she leaves." He squeezed her hand tightly. He was an hour into his marriage, and he had already unintentionally fucked everything up.
"I don't want to make a scene. Just leave it for now," Elizabeth muttered. She didn't want to ruin her own wedding. "Excuse me, I have to go to the bathroom." She rushed off to expel her house salad into a toilet.
Vomiting multiple times in her wedding dress wasn't part of the plan, and either was having to see one of Christian's gorgeous dolls. She felt sick, sad, and tired, but she had to push through it. He married her. That meant he didn't want her to exchange her body for plastic. Right?
She knew she had to return to the reception area. She had already been gone ten minutes. Christian would worry. She hated when Christian worried . . .
"Collin took care of it. I'm so sorry, Ellie." Ellie looked into Christian's eyes, and she knew the apology was genuine. He didn't mean for this to happen. He didn't want her here with them.
She trusted him.
"We're good," she said, giving him an authentic smile. "I already love being your wife."
She had more important things to focus on than petty drama.
Family came first, even if the visit was unplanned.

Elizabeth felt terrible, but there was no way she wasn't making love to Christian on their wedding night. She needed to feel close to him. She needed their love to keep her mind off her pregnancy. Three babies . . .
"I love you," he whispered into her ear before hovering over her to admire her face. "You are perfection. I can't believe you're on this ride with me."
She smiled at him, as he carefully removed her bra and ran his thumbs over her nipples before replacing his thumbs with his mouth. She moaned at the sensation of his tongue swirling around her flesh.
She really just wanted to fuck. She hated that she wasn't in a romantic mood on her wedding night, but she needed the distraction desperately.
His dick was the best distraction.
"Fuck me, Christian," she begged, thrusting her hips against him.
He moved his mouth to her lips. "A little eager, huh?" he said with a smirk. "Take those panties off now," he demanded while quickly removing his boxers.
He plunged into her almost immediately after the demand left his mouth, and Elizabeth rolled her eyes when he didn't even consider a condom. No wonder she was knocked up. This was on him.
She pushed him away from her without a second thought. "What the hell, baby?" he asked her, surprised at her sudden rejection. He pulled himself all the way out of her before settling into bed next to her. "What's wrong?" he asked softly, a little scared.
"You don't even consider protection any more! No wonder I'm fucking pregnant." She jumped out of bed and started to pull her clothes back on, deeply considering sleeping on the sofa.
Christian couldn't find words . . . Because, after the confusion of the last minute left him, he was too consumed by love and elation. "You're pregnant?" he asked softly, unable to contain the hint of a smile in spite of her anger.
"Yeah, I loved the part of the day where I had to piss on a stick in my wedding dress and vomit three times." She was pissed. She knew it wasn't fair to him, as she forgot the Plan B, but her hormones were taking her away.
"Get back in bed," he requested, gently tapping the mattress next to him. "Let me hold you while you yell at me." He was so fucking happy. He'd forgive anything she said at this point. He was going to get to be a daddy again, and this time he wouldn't miss anything. Not a single damn thing.
She sighed and crawled back into bed, covering her face with her hands. "How are we going to manage three babies and two impossibly difficult jobs?" she asked, still not looking at Christian.
"The way we handled two babies and two impossibly difficult jobs: with so much love. I know this isn't what you wanted right now, but I know as a fact we can handle this. You handle everything wonderfully, Ellie . . . My emotional issues, the kids, your clients . . . We are going to be fine with you heading the family. You've got this. I love you so much, and we've got this."
"I don't want Ivy and Reilly to feel ignored," she whispered, tears flooding her eyes because of Christian's sweet words. His arms were wrapped tightly around her, holding her close.
"They'll just have more love. Ivy is obsessed with Reilly. She'll be obsessed with baby boy too."
Elizabeth couldn't help but laugh. "Another boy, huh?"
"100 percent for sure." Christian nodded. "We are going to raise the best kids. All because of you."
She hoped he was right . . . Because she didn't feel ready for this.
